Hello everyone. This is just a public service announcement for those who aren't aware of the forums report button. When you make a report you can post the reason as to why the post needs staff attention. This helps the forum in many ways so we implore everyone to be involved in reporting offensive posts as well as spam or anything you think needs to be moved to a different part of the forum.

The Report Button can be found under the avatar of the member who made the post that needs to be reported. It looks like this: http://www.anime-forums.com/images/buttons/report.gif We may end up changing the button to something a bit more identifiable.

Now we just need to tell people where this News bulletin is.

It baffles me what could be more identifiable than a warning triangle with a black line through it! Well, for all the 'non-drivers' out there like myself it might not be so recognizable, on saying that... even I know what it stands for ^^

Rant over with, this button is really useful when you need a mod or admin to overlook something or step in to solve a problem. It's sometimes a little bit weird to 'report' someone but in the end I guess we all have to do it once at least and it may help so I say, Yes, please use this button!

ps Thanks for the announcement Wildz :)

This button is a godsend to us RPers, as the mod visits in that section are few and far between as far as we can tell. I use the button on a semi-regular basis, as does many of the RPers here.

I assume it is fairly difficult to police sections like RP Realm and Clubs because of their sheer size so many people, like Kyota suggests, use or should use this button.

I do think most would rather leave this job to someone else as it doesn't seem so appealing to have to report something. I had to get used to being a critic on some things and I think in this case it's the same.

IMO It's nice to have a thread which demonstrates the times when it is useful to try and encourage others to just 'get on with it'.

Hopefully some more people will use the report button after this.

Thanks for putting this up on my recommendation Tony ^^ It was annoying me to be the only person reporting.

I agree, It's nice to know you're not alone in these things! It makes me feel a lot better to know there's others out there.

IDK just an idea but maybe it could go with the 'quote' 'edit' etc buttons and in that red colour or something. I know that makes it a smaller button but people used the others at the bottom right hand corner a lot IMO (or at least I have to lol) so why not?

I guess the only issue with that is pressing it by accident but that is true with any of the buttons down there and easily solved ;)

or anything you think needs to be moved to a different part of the forum.
Tony, you may want to add this to the Note portion of the warning page:

Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.

Hopefully for the right reasons though

Shouldn't this be made sticky and put into forum about rules? (FAQ or something...)
Just asking...

Hopefully for the right reasons thoughMost people do make legitimate reports. If a report is made for the wrong reasons, we just don't act on it. We do have the brainpower to tell the difference :P

I would just like to add something. I think it is possible that people are afraid to report because it'll make them a snitch. Reporting is completely anonymous. We never reveal who made a report on a thread or post, so don't worry about that. By reporting, you are doing your bit to help the community and it helps us to deal with situations much faster.

There is also a report button on PMs so they can also be reported in this way. If you get PM spam from someone advertising products or other sites, report it.

Tony, you may want to add this to the Note portion of the warning page:

Eh, honestly as long as people aren't just spamming the report button for the hell of it, I don't mind spend the few seconds to load up the thread, read it, and lock it once I'm done with it. I mean, you can always PM a mod, shoot a message onto their VM wall, hitup the chatroom, etc. to get in contact with the staff, but the report button is probably the best way to get immediate action since there's usually at least one mod on at any given time.

Report button my ass. I've reported a person a few times anonymously and no action has been taken whatsoever. Or just the mods don't even bother to read what I'm saying.

Zer0, we don't deal with everything that is reported because there are some situations where a report was made for the wrong reasons or it wasn't necessary. Not liking someone is not good enough reason. We do read all reports and in some cases we will discuss with other mods and decide not to take action. We are not robots, we don't delete posts because someone reported. We review the situation first.

If this is about a report you made a little while ago ), you will have to excuse us for having real lives. We are not on call 24/7. BTW you only made one report, we can see all reports made. I was logged in here, but not actually here until now. You should've come in the A4chat and bugged one of us, I will deal with the situation now that I am online.

Zer0, we don't deal with everything that is reported because there are some situations where a report was made for the wrong reasons or it wasn't necessary. So you do admit my report was pointless? I was actually dumb enough to delete the messages he posted.

Not liking someone is not good enough reason.I don't hate him. But I can't say I like him either. But what do I do when somebody suddenly attacks me out of nowhere? Guess it wasn't important enough.

We do read all reports and in some cases we will discuss with other mods and decide not to take action. We are not robots, we don't delete posts because someone reported. We review the situation first. That is a given. Its up to mods what the final decision but I do expect some kind of warning. Or at least notify me. It wouldn't hurt to shoot me PM I'll read it sooner or later.

If this is about a report you made a little while ago ), you will have to excuse us for having real lives. We are not on call 24/7.Like I said, I don't expect immediate action. This was a month ago, there are other mods here that are online more often then you. It only takes a couple minutes of your life, a person can always find some time. I think we all have a life here, and you don't have to bring up how you working all the time because I'm pretty sure some people here work and have a life here as well. You don't have to bring that up.

BTW you only made one report, we can see all reports made.I'm sure I made two. One was recent the other one was a while ago.

I
was logged in here, but not actually here until now. You should've come in the A4chat and bugged one of us,

There is a better chance that I might find a mod online if a write report, and this was actually a preferred action by the mods too.

There is generally always a mod online whether it's the forum or the chat. If you need something handled report it. You may not know it but the report you gave did have consequences for the person who made those comments.

It wasn't pointless.

This is not the place to dispute these things. If you have a complaint you can make one in the complaint forum. We will disclose everything to you there as it is a private issue.

Shannon Apple

No Zer0, that was me speaking about reports in general.

Second half of my post was after I saw your report and I did message you to say it was taken care of. Please, keep complaints off the forums. It is better if these things are handled in private rather than getting all angry and saying we don't ever do anything.

If you have anything further that you want to discuss or need clarified, please send me a PM or use the complaints forum. Thanks!

This is not directed at you Zer0, but everyone who needs a faster response: Yes, report it first. If it is a serious problem and a mod doesn't respond to a report within 30 mins, (by that I mean, the situation is continuing. If it is private, we may have dealt with it discreetly already) go into A4chat and bug one of us. I may not be at my computer but if I'm in there, I do get a notification if you say my name. All you have to do is say the mods names who are in there and "can a mod please take a look at a report I just made" No need to disclose what it is.

And with that, it's probably better to lock this at this point before we get any more of the same craziness from you crazy kids as this thread's purpose has been made pretty clear.

Also, JDO, I moved your post to make a new thread entirely (http://www.anime-forums.com/showthread.php?t=103502) because it's probably got a more likely chance of being seen by others who keep asking about it there.
