Hey anyone read fairy tail the manga, well don't know if you hear'ed or not but i'm hyped about the news of it being released into an anime in the spring.
AnimeNewsNetwork:
This year's 31st issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine will announce next Wednesday that a television anime adaptation of Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail fantasy adventure manga has been green-lit for this fall. The anime studios A-1 Pictures and Satelight will produce the project.
The manga's story follows a teenaged girl named Lucy Heartfilia who aims to join the world's most notorious mage guild, Fairy Tail. During a daring rescue, Lucy encounters Natsu "Salamander" Dragneel, a quirky Fairy Tail member and a teenaged practitioner of the ancient Dragon Slayer magic. Lucy is eventually welcomed into the Fairy Tail guild as she, Natsu, and other members go on various quests together.
Del Rey will publish the seventh volume of the Fairy Tail manga in North America next month. Mashima also created the Monster Hunter Orage manga and the Rave manga, which Tokyopop published in North America under the name Rave Master. Rave was made into a television anime series. Tokyopop imported the Rave Master anime, and Cartoon Network's Toonami block and Sci Fi and Manga Entertainment's Ani-Monday block both televised the anime in the United States.

I just started reading it yesterday and I like it so far. I liked One Piece a lot so... And Crunchyroll has the first episode, but only for premium members.

First episode followed the manga completely, though with oddly less fan-service. The animation was a little disappointing, and felt like a cheap effort. A pleasant surprise was Rie Kugimiya voicing Happy, which of course brought Chopper to mind, and Aya Hirano voicing Lucy.

I read about becoming an anime a while back! Can't wait! Fairytale is one of my new favorites in manga! I just hope they don't add the American fillers like Naruto and Bleach.

This manga/anime is good, cause I really didn't get into One Piece. Not saying I didn't like One Piece but Fairy Tail seems more appealing. Natsu is so awesome... Lucy crazy and Happy.. is soo adorable . lol

First episode was really good, I'm getting a One Piece vibe off of this series as the main character reminds me of Luffy and his sidekick sounds like it's done by whoever does Chopper.

Rie Kugimiya filled in as Chopper for a good while. She sounds like the original voice actress but you can tell the difference if you listen closely.

This seems to be the best new show so far, I was going to start reading it a few months back but started on something else instead, the first two episodes were really well done, I like the idea of how Lucy has those keys in which she can call upon different powers with them, Natsu seems like the idiot type character who is very strong and does whats right, so far really good.

Ok I'm confused, why was Plue from Rave Master in the 3rd episode of Fairy Tale?
The simple answer is that Hiro Mashima created both series. Just cross-promotion, I guess, and to illustrate that Lucy's summons come from other worlds.
Still not all that excited about this anime yet, but I'm hoping it picks up soon. I suppose something will happen once the other members join up.

Episode 4 was good and touching, pretty cool how magic was used on the book so that it was really a book for Kaby, Lucy reminds me so much of Nami especially at the end there wanting the money, I was wondering when some sort of main villain would be introduced, but I'm guessing that may of been the shadow dude who grabbed the guys from around the tree.

Episode 5: Looks like things are starting to happen. I've been waiting for this anime to get a bit more serious. Erza seems like the member of the team who actually initiates things. I like her so far, and her armored form looks pretty awesome.

The dark guild looks pretty cool. It is getting interesting that is for sure. I like this show but the first 4 eps were so slow paced and it seemed like development was just not happening but episode 5 was solid.

Yeah episode 5 was good, probably the best one so far, we got to find out about the dark guild and the power of that skull flute they were after, now with some bad guys on the map things should pick up abit more, Erza seems solid too, but with all the magic she is using to run that car she will probably be drained by the time they catch up to them.

Erza is officially awesome, the coolest thing about this series so far. Episode 6 was a turning point for me, the first one where I really felt into the story and the characters, where it seemed something more than just a comedy with sporadic action. Erza really adds to the dynamics of the relationship between the other characters, as well, especially how her presence, and the threat of her anger, keep them acting as a team.
If the rest of the series is going to be like episode 6, then I'm looking forward to it.
Oh, and it looks like they upped the fanservice dial, too. Now it reminds me more of the manga.
Mizumi
11-18-2009, 05:03 PM
Erza's armor change in episode 6 reminded me of Angewomon's evolution scene, it really was quite similar and awesome, in that form she looked amazing and ubber, I wonder if Fairy Tale will be the new long ongoing anime like One Piece for example.

For those people out there who think this anime is as same as one piece writer u totally got it wrong... Eiichiro Oda was one piece writer... Hiro Mashima was Rave writer.. the connection between those two is infact they have the same master which is nobuhiro watsuki famous for his Rurouni Kenshin. Nobuhiro has another student Hiroyuki Takei famous for his shaman king(in case u wanna know lol :p)...
I haven't watch this series yet but i do have each episode until now... I'll watch it until all episode completed...

Episode 9
I am really liking how the actions pans out. It is quick and not drawn out nor should it be. I am hoping that it will eventually begin a good sized storyline. Not that the last few episodes have been bad but I would prefer some nice plot development.
The flute got his ass whooped and as I said before Erza is totally cool and hot.

I've liked all 9 episodes of this series so far but would prefer them to ease up on the comedy sometimes, I think some of the fights have been spoiled with comedy that didn't really add any value.

No it's not. I thought the same thing but it's actually coincidental. The manga looks very similar to One Piece art but the anime doesn't.
Anyways, I read the manga. I don't know about anyone else...but I'm pretty much sick of it. It's a massive One Piece rip-off from the main character, all the way down to the fighting elements and this whole thing about 'nakama'. It's a cheap imitation minus all the good things about OP like good settings/localizations; adventures; character designs etc.
*Spoilers only if you've read the manga*
And is the whole Sieghart thing some kind of damn joke? Is Mashima Hiro THAT attached to Rave Masters that he just had to ruin Fairy Tail by plaguing it with 3 Siegharts? It's like a damn joke. I mean, when you found out that Mistgun was another friggin' Sieghart, did you not flip the hell out? Yeah I had to laugh too. Like, oh well, there goes a cool and mysterious character we were looking forward to before; now I don't give a damn since he's just another Sieghart.
Oh, and then the Sieghart that died comes back to life in the most convenient manner you've ever witnessed; omg, I wanted to kill Mashima Hiro, what a retard!
Yeah, random rant over. Fairy Tail is a damn waste of time; it just makes you wanna watch One Piece. The only good thing is Happy.
That said, I still read the manga; it's like 2 mins of my time a week. Though I don't really look forward to it. I anticipate Bleach more tbh, and that series has passed the point of no return a while ago.

Pretty much what I've been thinking through the first 10 episodes. Though Natsu seems to be a Luffy clone in a lot of way, he really lacks all the charm and uniqueness that make Luffy so special. I don't much care for him so far. His fighting moves don't translate to animation well at all, either. It's the same animation over and over every time, it's like watching a cheap western cartoon, and the dragon in the background for every move is goofy. Grey's fight sequences thus far have been much more impressive to watch.
On the positive side, I do like Lucy's personality and I'm glad much of the anime is from her perspective, and Erza has nice character design. Happy being a bright spot goes without saying, there would be little charm to this anime without him. Fairy Tail also seems lost when it comes to comedic timing, and often doesn't seem to know when to be funny and when to be serious, which is something that One Piece absolutely excels at.
I'll give it some more time, but my interest is certainly waning.

Yeah I must say I sorta agree. I like the characters with the exception of Natsu when he is fighting but I am finding it very hard to get into with the route they are taking the animation.

Anyone still watching this? I must say episode 12 revived my interest in the show again.
I would never have thought that Gray would have such a dark past. Deliora's power seems pretty unimaginable. I think that he will be revived. Hopefully these last few episodes are the start of a full blown arc.

I'm still watching it. The Cursed Island storyline is fairly interesting. I admit to being surprised that Grey's skeletons were the first out of the closet, but I guess it makes sense. He's probably the lead important of the main characters, even if he is better than Natsu. It still doesn't feel like I'm seeing something important, however, which is how One Piece always feels, no matter who the story is centered on.
I suppose it's unfair to keep comparing it to One Piece, but there have been several One Piece references so far, so it's kind of their own fault.

I really like the characters and I understand what they are doing with the characters but they really are killing Natsu's with how they portray him. I am more excited to watch almost everyone else fight besides him. Where in One Piece the only person I enjoy watching fight more than Luffy is Zoro. I like the animation and story so I will keep watching. I wonder who will fight Lyon though.

May I interject and ask, what One Piece references?
In any case, I'm a little dissapointed with the anime series right now. They are turning it into more of a gag series by making light of every situation for the sake of comedy.. even when it really isn't funny; either Natsu or Gray being the boke and Happy or Lucy being the Tsukkomi. For example, Gray taking off his shirt and Lucy slams in with a "Why are you stripping!?" or Happy making too many fish jokes. It follows the same patter over, and over again and again. You see the juxtaposition of when Gray reminiscing of his past and then Natsu getting up and spoiling the moment. I suppose it's Natsu's personality to do so, but it worked so much better and more natural in the manga. I can't quite pin what's wrong with it but they try way too hard for laughs.
Edit: Episode 13:
Episode 13 was better than I thought.. much better. They did a couple of improvisations here and there but they were pretty good and relevant. Although they were still pushing for quite a lot of jokes, they did tone it down considerably and made the dramatic scenes.. well more dramatic. This episode redeems my view on the series I think. They even admitted Lucy makes Tsukkomis though at the preview for the next episode.

the anime animation style is really boring specially in the fighting scenes when they draw those stupid magic circles with every single attack and with erza sailormoon transformation if they would have just folowed the manga it would have been like this.

Off the top of my head, the mushroom episode was full of them, and most likely the whole mushroom idea was a straight One Piece reference itself. There were some in recent episodes, but I don't care enough to go back and look for them.

I've only read the first three mangas so far, but this news makes me very happy. The manga seems like it will be easy to adopt to the animation.
