So we here at A4 Staff don't think we get enough feedback from you guys, the users, so starting now and hopefully happening more frequently in the future, I'd like to conduct a survey with you guys to get an idea about how you feel about how things are going on A4 and get any comments or feedback you've got on things we can do to make your experience here even better.

More events, of course. I'm liking the fact that there are a lot of events around right now (Banner contest, Annual Awards etc.) But I'd also like to see events across the whole year, not just at each year's conclusion.

A very informative site at least if you know how to ask the right questions I'd have to give it a 7.5 out of 10

Hard to fit it in the context of a survey, plus I had started a whole new thread on this topic a few months ago, everything was said there

The layout is fine

Given the nature and focus of the forum (anime/manga) and the current popularity of the media it's a little bit disapointing. There is also a lot of competition from other similarly styled forums. I have been noticing lately (last month or so) increased participation in some threads/discussions

5. How do you feel about the overall post quality of the forum?

C) It's pretty awful.

I find the initial half dozen or so posts in a thread are really good, then you get a lot of agreeing with those first few posts. So it's both good and bad

I have not personally gotten into any problems so hard to judge it on that. From my observation I haven't seen a lot of inflamatory or rude posts so something must be done right

agree in that if you consider the moderators to be staff then yes they are great, not having dealt with the "staff" I have no point of reference

just visibility of the admin. I think it'd breathe some life back into the forum

Don't really know to many people in the real world who are both into forums and anime so no opportunity to recomend it or not

This year or since joining? Id go with 4 for the year over all maybe a 6 for the early years but to explain this would be too much so lets just go with 4 as its my current view.

I can never stop feeling that Fun & Games was, is, and always will be a terrible idea. That is another point for another day all in all I think my issues are little in control of the staff.

7/10, It would be a higher score if some of the forums I visit within the site were more active.

Nothing in particular, activity is down right now... but it will come back around in the new year. The forum was very active during the summer when I signed up, so I assume this is just a lull.

I do feel the forum layout is a bit long. Some forums seem a bit redundant, or just inactive. But I just collapse the forums I don't use much to fix the layout.

I see mods post, but I don't see them constantly policing or enforcing rules... which in my opinion is key to having a forum run successfully. The members clearly respect the mods power, and the mods give the members no reasons to break the rules, they all seem respectable and professional. So I believe the current staff is good.

Just keep the forum running, and continue to keep it spam free. The last anime forum I was on got overrun by trolls and the owner decided to shut it down, I wouldn't want to see something like that happen to this site.

9. The community here is by far the greeters one I've ever been on, and it surprises me when I hear people mention that the community used to be even better than it is now.

Very good so far. I don't think I've made so big an impact as the other well-known posters here but I get by. Mostly thanks to the club I'm in (HxH Club) but activities are starting to decline now too. *sob*

Well, there's this forum I go to and they hold some some of contests there. Like Picture Hunting, Guess the Character, Pick-a-Box, etc. They really make the forum experience fun. But our community is pretty limited (we all have the same interests: YAOI) so maybe that's why we're so... how do I say this?... close? I'm not sure.

Like I said, I like the structure of the forums the way it is now. Even a noob would have an easy time navigating it. /like me

A bit disappointing. I heard that this forum was really active before and that everyone really had fun.

Either a high 9 or low 10. I love it here. A4's community has the perfect blend of everyone and all their interests.

Nothing off the top of my mind, no. But if I have any ideas, I'll make a topic in suggestions.

I have heard about a future plan to remove the forum clubs, and focus more on the groups. A good start to that would make the groups (along with IRC) more easily accessible and not hidden in the community bar. Other than that, I like it just fine.

A4 is a great place, but we need to make more of an effort in trapping new comers so they don't join and then just leave. So if someone has a post count of less than 50 (espically single digits) we need to pay special attention to them and make it feel like a really good place until at least when they addicted and would come back here anyways when we should them what this place is truely like. Hahaha! Also mods and people with crazy post counts should talk to newbies because they are the people they will look up to most.

They do their duties rather well and usually do not let their own personal feelings get in the way, even when sometimes users try to make it personal. They give warnings when needed and are usually adaptive to the members.

I'll be honest, this is one of the best anime forums I have ever been to. Other forums usually are slow and not as active. Other forums have had rude staffs or plain vengeful mods. And on some other forums, people are just plain nasty. Not here. Here, the staff is very open and respective to all members, the forum is fairly active every day, and the members are welcoming to those who are new. A4 is like a home to me and when I get comfortable, it takes a lot to get me to move.

When I started a 10, the forum was busy and lively with plenty to discuss, now I'd say a 5-6, it's really dropped off and I honestly only stay because I've been here so long. I hate to say it but A4 has kinda become my tired old whore, easy, but not really all that satisfying for the most part.

I'd like to see a crack down on post and thread quality, we need to promote better thread and post quality, I've been noticing the activity improve though, so hopefully it will stay on the upswing long enough that there's a point in cracking down.

I've never like the way the anime forums were changed to their various genres, it still irks me, I think the thread tags were supposed to help with that but I'm not sure it's having much affect.

8/10, A4 is a very fun place to be, and people here are not constantly trolling which is a plus. Improvements can be made though.

Somehow i felt the old design was better, don't ask me why though. Chat system should be more revealing so does the sub-forums, 'can't find it'. I know some people only come here to chat or discuss about 1 specific anime.

About an 8 I like there is more than just anime to talk about and recently the conversation in other areas that I used to frequent seem to have taken a dive. The staff is great though. They're always there when something goes wrong or to make everything civil.

I'm not sure. It seems some stuff was taken away and I rarely see people I used to on here. Maybe it's just me but, what was changed? I liked the old AD set up better and this one's clean style better.

So far I have enjoyed my experience, there are the odd facepalm moments from time to time but some of them can't be helped.

About a month or two ago I would of said encouraging good quilty posts rather than punishing bad quilty posts, but recently a few mods seem to be doing just that. So at this moment I can't think of any other suggestions I'd like to make.

I've been a member since 2008. Given the time I've been here I would give a rating of a 6. A4 is almost like a huge dysfunctional family where every member that I've met seems to be in sync with each other or they just downright hate each other but still must interact on some level.

Most of the ideas that the staff and community have come up with vary according to the participation of members like the Events and Contests. I can't think of any way to logically get newer members to become interested in them as every other idea appears to have been implemented and exhausted.

The rules seem strict but the mods are flexible to a degree.

So far, aside from one immature incident, I have never had a problem talking with a staff member about issues pertaining to either me or the forum.

The rotational mods are a great idea but I have heard from many members that they feel the staff is a bit "cliquish" and one-sided. This leads them to believe that not every one on the forum is represented equally.

Maybe a chat box, using IRC is a little annoying while on the forum, though I do know they can get spammed a lot. And a fluid skin that goes right to the edge of the screen, not just most of the way.

This is a great forum site. I enjoy it very much here and aside from the few minor issues i have raised above I am overall very satisfied.

So far my experience has been a 9 or 10. It's the perfect size for someone with social difficulties like myself; not overwhelming with too many people, but not so few members that it's boring either. The community is also descent for the most part, and I don't feel very intimidated, which is amazing to me. I especially love my user control, allowing me to block private messages and the like, so I feel very at ease. I may be wrong, but I feel as though I have never had a better time socially on the Internet before.

I'd like to see everything stay the same as it is now, with the exception of perhaps adding more forums and sub-forums.

Anyone browsing General non-Anime and Current Events for some amount of time can easily notice a handful of people being unnecessarily rude, condescending, or sarcastic in their replies, met with complete apathy from every moderator. In some cases it IS a moderator. The differentiation between swearing and blatant, sincere rudeness is completely unexplained and ignored.

Admittedly I care far less about this, but I don't agree with the locking and disallowance of "Fun and games" threads. Better yet, the removal of the specific forum which stopped existing before I even joined the site. At this point it's almost as though people are being siphoned into the unpleasantness of GnAD and Current Events, stifling any benefit people might expect from an ANIME forum.

I would say this site barely even lives up to it's name any more. There are currently 493,262 posts in anime related sections and 681,843 in others, not including Community and forums that could contain either. Somehow A4 has shifted so far from the intention that it may as well now be called the "whatever the f*ck forum." Obviously this can only be attributed to what people are making threads about and is a moot point, but irritating nonetheless.

With the combination of these things, I don't currently see this site as anything but a mess of negative people and attitudes, and completely contrary to what a new person discovering "anime-forums" would expect. Entertainment is stifled for no reason. The interest of moderators seems misplaced for the theme of the entire site, and some even contribute to the negativity of discussions. Discussion, where it lies, is unpleasant and rife with rudeness, sarcasm, and mockery. Why is this allowed? Why are overtly rude people left to their devices? I was under the impression that this site was intended to be a somewhat civil place for normal discussion, in parallel to something like 4chan with rampant, expected rudeness. Currently I see little difference and, dare I say, more empathy from anonymous, blameless people on 4chan.

I suppose I should make actual suggestions. Redirect the interests of (some) moderators to something more fitting of the site's theme. Stop the participation of (some) moderators in negative discussions. Create stricter guidelines for rude posts, and more lax guidelines for entertaining posts. Try to actually be an anime forum instead of an unpleasant "f*ck everyone in general" forum.

I think the forum is cool. There isn't really much you should have to do to work on or improve it per say... I do think that there should be additional forums in general. 7 - Today - Flow of new threads or good topics seems to be low these days
10 - Past - More members, Higher post count making for more to read in the topics being posted etc. Just seems slower paced these days.

Not really. At least none come to mind.

Its good I guess. I would like the Version of skin I am using to not have one color on it but maybe a design or something that we the users can somehow alter. Maybe a Tribal white/black paper that would fit the look and feel of the a4 skin really well.

6/10 - it seems like there are three groups of people. regular users (all seem pretty normal), mods (sensible but a little uptight), and hall monitors (people hanging out just to monitor the forums and users. shills not mods and possibly paid)

I joined this forum and another one where you can list all your favorite anime. Anime planet I think it was. It had a forum too but the forum sucked and the discussion topics didnt' look as interesting as this one. It would be cool if the faceplate for the whole thing was updated to a new look and profile functionality was added so we could list and rank manga and anime and even characters and have the info as part of our profiles.


3. How do you feel about the current organization of the forum (That is, how it's structured, where things are placed, etc.)? Are there any things you'd like to see changed? Any things that are particularly difficult to find or unintuitive?

Too many threads on infinite pages of threads. There must be some way to archive old threads so they don't show up on the front pages. Also, the whole no necro rule. If old threads were archived, people would just start new ones, unless they chose a "see more threads" option on a topic or folder and went exploring. If a new member finds an old topic and wants to comment, maybe the thread gets brought back to life. No big deal especially if the thread was a good topic that faded out just because it got bumped down the list and forgotten.

It seems like most new people are scared to talk to each other here, especially new members who get intimidated easily by old members. Know it all veterans don't bother me because this isn't my first forum and I have encountered such personalities before but new people who like anime and just want to hang out might be intimidated by the aggressive debate style and lame tactics used by some of the old guard who kill discussions.

Who cares. It's a forum of regular people. Let people talk about whatever they want to talk about according to their level of knowledge.

Don't really care. A4 is what it is. The staff seem fine. They're just people so their opinions mean as much as anyone else's.

A4 Staff seem fine. They do seem to have some trepidation about just chatting or whatever. It's like they are on probation or something and are really careful about what they say. Maybe not but that's how it seems

It seems like this forum was once a busy and happening place and something happened and it all died. That's the feeling I get like there was a festival or amusement park of awesomeness and some tragedy struck and now it's like a ghost town. A few people show up out of curiosity or because they saw the sign but they don't stay long because other than the staff and some threatening looking security guards lurking around the place, its pretty empty and oppressive.

It's too bad because all the stuff is here for a great fun community but it seems like something is holding people back. That's just my impression but I'm new to these threads so what do I know.

So far just by glimpsing at a few forums, some of the staff seem condescending, hotheaded and not really "people-people". I've seen a few staff acting condescendingly or 'smart' around here, when that isn't something you'd like in a staff member. In general I'm not sure at the moment, they may be a helpful person who I'd actually feel happy to go to, or they can just be there to close and delete forums or infract me!

For me ill give 8/10. I haven't explore the site much but seeing some of it makes me impress. The style was so simple yet firm. Very imformative. Precise and most of all, the people who handles A4 was so cool! :)

Im not sure if you have this already but why dont you have a monthly game wherein you can give points/coins/gills for prizes. I mean just for fun and for those people who can interact with some of the members too :) and eventually we could have as many members as we could sharing 1 interest even if were all different in opinions and stuffs...and that is loving ANIME ;)

Its great here, nice people and have only bumped into an as shole once or twice.
Interesing threads, good moderators who clean up and do their job well and I haven't seen too much power abusing.
