Kill Bill is going to kick ass. It looks like the film is soaked in style. Plus, Project I.G. is doing an anime short for the film. Looks badass.

Yeah, I thought the same thing about Unce Upon a Time in Mexico, and that one completely sucked (watch Desperado, everybody! Much better! So is El Mariachi!).
Tarentino is human, and he will fail eventually. ONe of his films is going to come at everyone out of left field and suck ass. Kill Bill? Perhaps. Perhaps not. I'll say when I see it.

Anyway, this movie looks like just another annoying wire-fu martial arts movie with no substance. God I hope it has substance. Otherwise I'm gonna spend two hours making fun of it. Which isn't all bad I suppose.

You know, when I first saw the trailor I thought...*blaxploitation except its asian kung fu films* Its completely cliche and most likely wont be very good. Thats the negative that might happen. The film could be a cult classic if they do it right. And by right I mean extremely well. It would have to have a decent story which I doubt, and a great action which is a given today with film makers. I'll give it a chance though and see it.
Hmm, perhaps but i still cant help getting excited for a Tarentino movie, all his others were masterpieces.

This movie is oozing with style, QT did it again. The fight scenes = terrific, the gore = over the top great, there is also an anime scene. I didn't expect anything from the movie when I went it, I came out knowing I watched a rare type of movie. Call me sick but I was laughing all the way through the fight scenes, and when limbs were flying. I have watched enough martial arts movies to know this is one of the good ones. Go watch it if you like HK movies, you won't be disappointed...

Same here, Even though the movie was an absolute masterpiece in itself (NEED THE SECOND HALF!!!) the fact that it had "Chigusa" in it boosted it up another notch for me, I'm a rabid fan of Battle Royale.
I need to see Ju-on, not sure why its so hard to find subtitled...
The Anime scene was excellent, though TOO bloody, I'm not a fan of "pressurized blood" which this movie had FAR too much off, it just detracts from the realism way too much for me. The katana fight scene was one of the best fight scenes I've ever seen, and they didn't even need to use any of that fancy "Bullet Time" stuff that everything else has nowadays.

The way it was done, I think QT was trying to make it look unrealistic, I have watched a lot of bloody and gory movies, but this one made me shudder.
Oh and Ju-On was alright, it wasn't that scary or anything. More of a chilling factor to it. Of course the fact that half the movie goers in the theater laughing helped to make it less scary, but I noticed that it was only guys laughing, while the girls were too absorbed in the story...
Well... this movie surely beats most of the other crap that Hollywood's been producing lately...
I'd say that this movie gets Kyuu's Approved Stamp of L33tness...

At first, i wasn't sure about this movie, but i just saw it last night and i was pretty impressed. it was definitely quite the aesthetic movie. I really liked the music, and some of it sounded very familiar. It certainly was goretastic, but since it was so over the top, I was able to keep from lurching (like I would at something very realistic). I think I will go rent a Bruce Lee movie now =D

Ok first
This movie shouldn't not be based on the plot. Because seriously. ...The plot is just nuts and crazy and 8O.
secondly,
base it instead on the beauty of the movie. See the many references.
The Japanese cultural references as in the outdoors fight scene between uma and lucy liu. The falling leaves? The japanese garden in snow? References.
Uma's outfit in the Japanese tea room, House of Blue Leaves. It looks like the same outfit that Bruce lee wore in Enter the Dragon.
The green hornet theme (another kung-fu reference) (SO MANY KUNG-FU references, i love it! ^_^ Lowell = Kung Fu movie guy) The beginning of the movie. And i mean the VERY beginning. Sorta reminded me of the old 70's and 80's kung fu movie beginnings when they displayed the company that made it.
I loved it cuz it was just a good ole fashion kung-fu flick...with swords. thats my thoughts on the matter.

I've been seenig quite a bit of "GoGo" avatar's, and its really annoying me.
I think her performance in Battle Royale was *MUCH* better in terms of "Crazy Psycho *****" along with giving someone a much more painful death than simple disbowelment with a katana.
But, thats just me.
I just got back from it, again, saw it for the second time, Great movie, the action scenes are priceless.
Also... I counted somewhere along the lines of 75 ONSCREEN death's, this is what I thought.

I believe the previous poster was referring to how Chiaki Kuriyama's character, Go-Go Yubari, disemboweled a man with a katana. Not that she was killed by a katana. And I agree on how her Battle Royale performance left more of an impact on me. Although her role in Kill Bill was very interesting and I would love to watch the movie again if movie tickets didn't cost as much as it did, perhaps it's because I watched Battle Royale first, but after watching Battle Royale, her role stuck in my mind as one of the most significant in the movie, and that impact didn't repeat itself when I watched Kill Bill.
Her character in Battle Royale, Chigusa, is vicious when provoked, perhaps much more so than Go-Go, and it's more disturbing considering who she was killing and what her character was (not a body guard like in Kill Bill). I for one felt sorry for Niida for getting killed the way he did by Chigusa, a very painful way to die, and it was pretty obvious after he accidentally shot her with a bow-gun that he was running AWAY from her.

Yes, for how little screentime she had in Battle Royale (around 5 minutes) she was a VERY important and impacting character, Its most likely part of the reason she is considered one of the main characters, even though she had such limited time in the movie.
In kill bill, her perfomance on a whole seemed to be...Less, perhaps its just because of the roll Tarantino put her in, but it BR, she was a human, not just the mindless evil drone like she was in Kill Bill.
Thats completely unrelated though. =p
Go-go dosent die due to a katana.......sheesh and you said you saw the movie twice...unless your talking about the other chick.
I know she didn't die from a katana, I said she GAVE a painful death, otherwise....
*SPOILAGE*
After taking a hit to the head with such a heavy ball, and still fighting, to be killed by a leg of a table with nails in it? Way before she even had time to establish much of a character besides "schoolgirl from hell" made her death in KB quite annoying.
*END SPOILAGE*
but, yeah, Its still nowhere near as good as perfomance as she had in BR, oceansportrait has the right idea, even though she was a vengeful evil ***** (..Not as much as Mitsuko though...) in BR, you actually cared about her as she was still human, and her death was still sad, regardless of what she did 2 minutes earlier in the movie.

I just saw the movie today for the first time and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I mean, the anime sequence was pretty dam good plus the action was nice. The pressurized blood was an old school touch that gave the kung fu films of old some props. And I liked the sword play in it. And am I the only one who thought GOGO was yummy. O.o
And I have to make a comment about the toe wiggle. I mean, normally Id love that...just ask Juni. But her toes were quite jacked up. I mean its so opposite of her beauty. And yes, I like me a little bit of Uma......dont hate. :p Regardless Id tackle her and do the duty....yeah, even those busted ass toes will get some lovin. XD Dam Im sick. ^^

Uma is beautiful if you ask me. I'd definitely put it in her. Her toes were...weird, but they're just toes.

Just saw it for the third time. Anyone notice (in the hospital scene where Bill was telling Daryl Hanna's character not to kill the Bride) that Bill addressed Ella Driver as MISTER Driver?
If this movie is QT's tribute to kung-fu and anime (which seems to me), I bet you the California Mountain Snake is a guy.

i just watched that movie a few hrs ago. i almost bit off my finger near the first part, where the man shot the blonde bride, smashing out that loud bang. i hate it when they attack me unsuspectly when i'm enjoying my popcorn.... well, it was an okay movie and i was enjoying it, until i found out how -fake- the blood looked. well, as most ppl know, it's sorta tying in with the classic japanese dramas, but iono, with the Matrix going around and all, the blood was just way too fake, even though there was still a lot of blood and guts being spilled all over the place. One of my favorite parts was when that schoolgirl bashed the blonde person (forgot the main character's name...) with the flail on a chain... man, that scene was to die for... it rocked. The amateur samurai, that one boy with the sword, also cracked me up, when that girl hacked up his sword bit by bit. ^^;
If you ahve bit torrent I can show you where to get Kill Bill for 150bk/second. You gotta have high speed internet too :|

i actually didnt want to see this movie at first glance, but than seeing all the commercials began to warp my mind and compelled me to view it...i must say im very glad i did...the style of that movie was great!!! it would be normal colored one minute, than shift to black and white and the anime portion was wacky awesome!!! though i think reviewers and such kinda exagerrated on how much blood was used...

I would like to mention, I'm not believing that those are actually Uma's toes, if you watch the movie closely, you'll notice that it NEVER shows uma's entire body when her feet were uncovered, if her feet are in it (wheelchair, running to the ***** wagon, ANYWHERE) then it never shows above the KNEEs, which makes me believe that those aren't Uma's Toes
Which leaves very few options
1. Tarintino didn't think uma's toes were "satisfactory" for the role, and therefore needed a nastier looking pair.
2. Tarintino thought that Uma's toes were TOO nasty, and therefore needed a better looking pair. 8O

I don't think it was a tribute to kung fu and anime, there was only one anime scene and only some of the martial arts were kunf fu, there were many other styles. It may be a tribute to japanese action or just the first person she had to kill WAS japanese, the next movie might revolve around the next targets stlye
I also think:
GREAT CONCEPT HERE
She's killing everyone in their greatest skill, REN-O was the katana, that mother and daughter scene, she was a master with blades and look how she illed her, the next guy will probably be a gun fight.

it would have been nice if qt had did an anime on all the characters backgounds - at least the evil folk- i didn't expect the movie to end. there was still more mofos to kill. I'm going to go see it again. great movie, seriously.

Supposedly, there's going to be an anime prequel. I hope it's true.

HAHAHA. Once Upon a Time in Mexico was lame. The action was totally generic, the movie had no merit. THe only reason that movie was watchable was because of Johnny Depp.
Have you even seen Kill Bill?
And as for Matrix Revolutions - it's a completely different type of movie, so who gives a ****, they're both badass films in their own right.

lol you don't think kill bill was lame? All those dumbass anime wannabe movie with some **** ass black and white showing off for about 5-10 mins annoying as hell. By the way gun fight in other movies is way cooler than those jap fools pigging their swords with some batman wannabe mask on.

I thought Kill Bill was one of the best films this year, it was soaked in style. Better than watching 20 guys shooting Antonio Banderas and missing from 10 feet while he hits everyone in with one shot...
I think you have a totally skewed view on Kill Bill. It was supposed to pay homage to Asian film/pop culture in general. Hence the anime, samurai swords, and Kato masks, etc...
And the black and white scene isn't in the Japanese version because they don't care about violence over there as much as the prude-ass Americans here.

Who cares about what one considers as the best films of the year...
The point is to enjoy the movie. And I have no doubt that Matrix Revolutions will kick ass, I just think Kill Bill was awesome, and very entertaining.
Out of curiosity, what film do you think will be the best?
I'm going to go ahead and say Return of the King, but that's just my opinion.

i don't understand how anyone can say kill bill was not entertainning. there wasn't one bad scene. I haven't seen desperado 3 yet so I can't say anything about it, but you're supposed to judge a film by its own flaws and goodness, not how it compared to other movies--- you can't put kill bill up to the matrix, that just wrong...
i personally hate tolkien or how ever you say his name. i think he is a terrible author. The movie was cool, i can't deny that- which I give propts to the director for- but i never liked the lotr series. It just wasn't interesting to me.
enough of that. and yes i know that there wasn't much of a point addressed, but who cares really. I'll stop talking now. things to do.
there really should be a series to this, maybe a longer version where the bride has to go through a lot more of the lower folks and sub lt then the generals or something. I know there is supposed to be a anime or manga or something that kill bill is based off of, but i can't find anything on it so, that doesn't help.
