Farewell

Well I had this idea, probably dumb, but I thought there is no harm in saying it.

If people are allowed to say hello in the forums, shouldn't they be able to say goodbye somewhere?

What I am suggesting is that a farewell thread be posted in the news section. When a person says goodbye, they write a pm to a moderator. The moderator, then opens the farewell thread, posts the pm and closes it afterwards, so the thread doesn't get spammed.

It's an interesting idea, but I don't particularly like the idea of PROMOTING leaving A4. Then again, I don't know. They have a time and a place, but... eh... iono. Could be a good idea.

It's not really promoting it, is it? I mean, we have celebrations when babies are born, and then we have funerals for when people die; celebrations for the two different events.

I doubt many would leave the forum...even if they did, they would probably leave without a sound...

Unfortantlly when people say good bye, they sometimes often come back. Its better off to leave without saying it. If you do, they should know.

That's a very nice idea. People who are leaving, can post their goodbyes, and then after a few days (I think five days should be the maximum limit) the thread will be locked or deleted. Though I think you should only make a thread if you're leaving for good, no need to make one if you're just coming back in a few weeks, right?

And what, A4 isn't life?

Forums + Chat + Video Games = My life (And the occasional go outside once in a while thing too :P)

I think it should be allowed to be open for a day, or at least until the next day, so people can tell them good-bye and such. I know some of you might be thinking that it's no big deal to say good-bye, but I'm willling to bet most person leaving would like to see the response they get. They did make a thread about it, after all.

Worrying about people spamming on these threads is no big deal. I don't exactly see people leaving by the busload, do you?

I too thought about the idea of a "good-bye forum", but like TitanScholar said "I don't particularly like the idea of PROMOTING leaving A4" is a good point. So, I dimissed the idea of suggesting one. It doesn't really have an effect on the users (they're not all about to leave, if there was one ^^), but it just doesn't look good, from the outside looking in. That, however, is just my opinion.

That's why, Sheikah makes a good point. Let's just leave it the way it is, at least. That way, people get to say good-bye and what not.
