Well..yes I do cuss myself, just for the fun of it, but peoples on this thread cuss at lot!

Can't we limit the cussing? (EX: the Dragonball section)

Is there anyway to limit it? Or give warnings?

There isn't THAT much cussing, from what I've seen, but then again there could be cause I don't look at the DBZ section. Since this is a family site, there could be less.

jeez. I hardly ever see cursing in here. and when i do its cuz someone is flaming or making a joke. So who cares if there is cursing anyway! as long as it doesnt go to far.

What kodoma said but if you really have a problem with it all you have to do is press on the button with the "!" on it and the mods will see it and either edit or delete what the contents are. You could also pm a mod about it and they can enforce what you see better. So before resorting to making threads please do these things first.

A little off topic, but does that post report still work, I got an error when I try.

I haven't seen a cuss word on here for weeks *shrugs*

The post report button is working, seeing as I'm taking care of 6 post reports right now ^_^

If you find a post to contain far too much cuzzing for your liking, just hit it or PM a mod about it and we'll take care of it. As it is now I dont really thing that there's enough cuzzing to motivate taking any big action against it, ish all good in moderate amounts ya know?

A4 profanity problem? Nah, if there is cussing it's usually in a section where the anime would be rated Mature anyway.

The forums automatically censor the really bad words. So i dont know how you can say that there is too much of it.

Ha... That's funny it doesn't mind the "s" word but it censors out cr*p...
And in my way of thinking, I do think Sh** is a way more vulgar word than cr*p. What a censoring system we have here at A4, what a censoring system we have indeed... Or maybe theres another "c" word I'm not aware of...

Well anyway... I don't like to curse, I mean there's a bunch of other more accurate words to show anger than... d**n or f***... The only reason I see why people use these words is because they have a small vocabulary, and need to use these words to express feelings that they cannot describe using cleaner choices of words...(but this is just my opinion on the subject) As an example, when I go to the mall I often times overhear people's conversations... and my conclusion from those experiences is that the "f" word (conjoined with the proper suffix) can be used as either a noun, verb, adjective, or adverb. I have also found out that the word has, at least 6 different meanings.

About the "baddness" of bad words... What makes bad words bad? I really can't say... I don't think there really is a reason. I how d**n is a curse and dang or darn is not or how f*** is a curse and fudge is not really escapes me... I mean you say fudge when you act foolishly just so you can be justifed and think at least I didn't say the "f" word. I mean it's just a replacement of the curse word, a synonym if you will. In essence you are still trying to get the same point across. The only reason we use these "replacement" words is because we do not want to be labeled immoral or uncivilized.(or maybe you don't care...) The only reason I don't like to use these words is because (like many others in the world) I was taught not to... That is the the only reason I can see why bad words are bad... because our society tells us so, and we don't want to go against what society say is wrong (I mean I don't). The parents play a big role in this... I mean they have more control then society has on what there children do. what the parent say goes... Which leads me to my next point...

About cussing on this forum... Let's just say that the age level of people visiting the forum is from 11-27... The adults in most cases can deceide for themselves about cursing. About the rest of the members... Though age is irrelevant to cursing, and it's the parents decision to what their chlid can and cannot say... while we cannot ask each individual parent what there child cannot say or hear, we must decide for ourselves, since we are the society and (accoding to my theory) the society in most cases comes after the parents. So we should decide what a 11 year old is allowed to see...

As for me, I would let anyword said on basic American TV go.(I'm not being predjudice and favoring America, it's just that it's where I'm from, and it's the best thing I can base it on) So the only thing you would have to remove from the list is the "s" word... and that would pretty much match up correctly.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and hearing out my opinion on the subject. Sorry for any gramatical errors and/or mispellings or if I was unclear(I'm not a very good writter) or blew the reaon for this thread out of proportion. And those of you thinking that this is a post from some concerned soccor mom... I just have to tell you that (like much of you other members) I'm just a 14 year old boy who's crazy about anime, and concerned about not offending anyone else on this forum.

Thank you again for your time...

Wow... that's probably my longest and deepest post yet! Can't believe it all came from my head too...

Well, I'm in other forums where they take censorship further than here. They censor words like slut and whore that here aren't censored. So I think this forum has a good balance of censorship.

I never really understood how the words became "bad" either. It was as if one day someone said "d**n" and said "oh, that's a bad word!" And it became like that all around the world. I never really understood, but your parents or whomever teaches that it is bad to say so "most" people don't usually say it. I guess, bad words to me express emotion most of the time. Cursing is a very hard thing to understand, and I really don't get why people have to use it.

I've never understood why peole think damn's a bad word. It's the same as saying darn, I think.

Just my little 2 cents worth:

you haven't seen swearing until you have been in the chat room for more than a few minutes :D

ESPECIALLY when someone is upset......

Have a good day!

you can't control swearing in a chat room.
Yes, you can.

Also, about this swearing thing - like i say it's better to take action now than regret not doing anything later. You can't have an honor system on a forum, it just doesn't work - especially after a community gets really big.
It's better just to censor derogatory words.

Dood. This isn't America. Do you all really forget theres plenty of users here who are outside the US, thus do not abide by its laws? For ****s sake. ANd yes, people hwo get terribly offended by cussing are morons in my opinion. Its a god damned word. If it offends your limited knowledge, then avoid it by not going into areas where it is said, including chat if necessary.

I just hope Gwen and the other minors don't see these things, is all. I really don't see anything wrong with words like f*#%, b*&!#, or even c*#&, for that matter. But at least PHRASE it f*#%, b*&!#, or c*#& for the sake of the younger forumers. For the rest of us that like to say dirty words, we'll still understand your meaning.

On a family-oriented forum, people should just generally watch their mouths,God dammit!

For ****s sake.

Well...at least we know Ian's against limited cussing..bwahahaha...and most frankly, so am I..they are just words created by us...nothing more......but they do make a good point in rephrasing these words for the sake of the children who visit these forums everyday.....

talking about hentai to them is bad enough....we don't wanna influence another bad thing..

And the mods need to update thatt censorship some too...Aya-Kun displayed some words that we're not automatically censored when they should have been..and even the word I quoted from Ian wasn't censored....."hell" may be okay to leave, but d**n and s**t isn't.

The first amendment wasnt there to let you swear as much as you want.
The first amendment is there so that people will get their ideas out without getting censored. I hardly think that even if the first amendment applied to this forum you'd get away with exessive cursing.

Just because you may say what you want to doesnt mean that you should.
