I've got a bit of a concern twords those of us who keep pointing fingers at threads they call 'clones'. What exactly classifies a thread as a clone? From what I've heard from our local ham-ham-admin wastaz (This was a while back I believe), a thread is only considered a clone when one of the same topic is still semi active, or no older than a week.
This may just be a selfish request, but would one of the mods or admins mind posting a reminder of this in at least the anime and general forums? If not - I understand, but we might as well have someone clarify this fact.
Thanks a bunch :)

Good point, it seems there have been many clone threads floating around lately because people are too lazy to look through all the pages when they really should cause it may just limit all those pages they have to go through without cloning threads.

I agree with Lina. I'm getting kind of tired of constantly seeing threads get tagged by more veteran members with a single line post saying, "This is a clone thread! Check through all the pages in this forum and all the others next time to make sure you aren't making a thread similiar to one already existing that hasn't been posted on in weeks." Yeah, I went ahead and put my own spin on that, but its basically what is being said. Please clarify what is and isn't a clone.

Yea, there are alot of clone threads. I see my superiors even doing clones! I may have done once, but I didn't mean to. I usually make sure that I don't make clones. Please forgive me for making 1, and I'll delete the next clone i do (if i do one)

hm....
Some of the members act like moderators spamming another persons spam (Example: "This is a clone thread", "This doesn't belong here", "This belongs in [Forum Name]", "This thread has no point". ect.) Well, do you know what? That is spam too.
That their is one of my statement that I created a while back in "A couple points to ponder". The answers where nifty.

True that is very true. Although when sometimes they ay the thread is a clone it isnt. Also sometimes they need to be revived and making one is the best way to do t.

An ideal point to make when discussing the alleged clone problem would be to first have it (that is, "clone") defined, and then question that definition if need be. For instance, contemplating whether one week of inactivity is really a long enough time to declare a thread "dead"...
But this isn't a discussion, the way this is going. This is just going around in circles, making this a clone as well, in which most of you are missing the point Kari is making entirely. Well, it's not so much a point as it is a request, but...meh.
If not a reminder in the forums, then in the FAQ forum. That's what it's there for, Kari. ^^

This was a Similar thread about clones, mainly just for refrence, but some good points were made by many people. http://www.anime-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=3602

Like Sheikah said, most of you are entirely missing the point - all I wanted was a reminder posted in the top of the forums reminding members what is - and is not - a clone thread. I don't need any of this discussion x.o All I'm saying is when it's not needed members are posting one-line spam in practically every topic and declaring it to be a clone! >.<;
