One Piece - huh?

I watched probably the first 8 or 10 episodes on Cartoon Network. It seemed like a cute kid show but I just thought the storyline was stupid so I quit watching it. My friend swore up and down the Japanese version was really good. And I watched as much as I could stomach and came to the same conclusion.

What makes this show so appealing to you One Piece fans? Please understand I am not trying to flame anyone I am just curious. My friend things I'm crazy for not loving it like he does heh.

for one it depends.
I usually skip through alot of the japanese one till I come across a good episode or story arc. Alot of it is sterotypical anime storyline very predictable and boring.
