Hey everyone, Ive only been watching anime for about a year at most, Im pretty on and off with what I watch because of how busy I am.
Ive been trying to find a new series to watch, but it seems I cant find anything that is suited to my taste. Here is a list of the anime that I have watched and enjoyed:
Eureka Seven (favorite by far, no need to explain)
Naruto (on going, slowly getting more mature...)
Shakugan No Shana (good animation but story took forever to get somewhere with characters)
The Melancholy of Haruhi Zuzumiya (great animation and interesting story/characters, but little action)
The Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk (second season in January!, funny, mature, and full of action)
Fullmetal Alchemist (good, refreshing story, good animation, and amazing characters)
Can any of you help me find a new series to watch. As you can see from my list, I like fairly new anime series with good animation and mature themes and Im never opposed to a love story, fairly open to anything really. I have considered bleach and code geass, but there are so many episodes already and Im not sure if I can commit. Ive seen about a third of a fourth of death note on tv, but I just dont think I could get into it. Everyone seems to think highly of Monster, but it seems like it might be all drama and no action.
Thx

Here's a new anime you might find interesting, based off of the manga series: Vampire Knight. It has excellant animation in my opinion and as for storyline, it might interest you, it might not. At most, just try the first episode.

Based on the things you mentioned you find interesting, most of it are shounen, action and has good animation quality.
Try visiting the Recommendations Thread, mostly got the series I watch. But for you, try watching Black Lagoon (1st and 2nd), Linebarrels of Iron, Gundam Series, Macross Series, and others. Mostly other recommendations above are great so try watching them.

I checked out Vampire Knight and Linebarrels of Iron, went on youtube and watched part of the first episode each. The story of LoI looks interesting and like something I would want to watch, but the animation just looks really off and somewhat poor.
Vampire knight looked a lot more promising, animation was good and it seems very mature, but we'll see, Ill have to look into it some more.

Thread moved to the Recommendations section, its the perfect place for this type of thread. I also suggest you read this stickied thread for more info on making and giving requests:

If I were to help you, i suggest you watch Overman King Gainer, a series that is a lot like eureka Seven in several areas, and I suspect the series was a heavy influence for Bones when they created eureka Seven.
If you want another series that is kind of similar to FullMetal Achemist, I recommend Mai-HiME. I cant say to much, but it has some good action and the story feels fleshed out and the cahracters grow throughout the show.
I have watched four episodes of Linebarrels so far, and the show is predictable, has a boring story, humor and fanservice thrown in for the heck of it and the main character is a moron. Take it from someone that like mecha anime, watch something else. Why not Zeta Gundam, an old classic that feel a lot like Linebarrel. Or watch Gundam 00 for a newer good mecha show. The Gundam series aren't related by story and you can watch 00 without having seen older Gundam series before.

Thanks for the recommendations I checked out the op for Overman King Gainer and it looks good, but i just don't know if I could watch anything similar to eureka seven again, I would end up comparing them and thinking about how I dont like it as much.
I actually was in the chit chit forum and I was seeing a few people mentioning an anime named claymore in the thread about what anime you are currently watching. So i checked it out and and it looked good, Im currently downloading and hopefully it will be good.

Don't do it if you call yourself as an Asian fan and not as an Anime loser.

How about you Asians update your outdated business model and give the fans what they want? They want Anime in a timely fashion, not 1-3 years or never. We spend more on Anime than you guys do anyway. Hell, all that extra cash will even inflate that overlarge amount of pride you folks have anyway!

I'm all for buying an official anime release to support the industry, but there are limits. Some releases are horrible with edited, stripped out material and/or with bad audio/video/translation quality. And its mainly when Asian anime companies try to release as series outside japan themselves that we see these issues. Remember what happened to Bandai Visual USA?

Looks like im an anime loser. HAHA
btw, you should check out welcome to the NHK if youre looking for something a bit different. It's got lots of comedy and drama, nice animation, and overall a great show. It's done by Gonzo and I'm usually not a fan of most of their stuff, but this one was actually so good that it's one of my most favorite shows ever.

An Asian fan....? Last time I checked anime and manga were primarily japanese is origin and still is based mostly in japanese culture. I dont know when the last time you watched a russian anime, but ive never seen one.
Secondly, I dont ever plan on spending 50 dollars for a series on dvd before watching it, especially because i dont feel like getting screwed with crappy half-assed translated subs. I have better things to spend my hard earned cash on than take a risk on buying some random anime that I "think" I might like.
Btw to everyone else, I found the anime I was looking for by simply doing some research. One of my favorite anime studios is Bones, so after looking at their most recent stuff in 08 and 07, I found Xam'D: Lost Memories, watched the first 2 episodes, its great so far, animation is detailed and fluid, sound is phenomenal, story line is interesting and somewhat unique, and characters seem very deep. In the second ep you really see some deep emotional strife in some of the side characters. I would recommend it to anyone.

I'll second Black Lagoon and seeing as you appear to be a action fiend...
Gungrave
GITS
Hellsing Ultimate
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
I loved Claymore untill the last thrid when it inexpicably went really really sh1t for no reason whatsoever.
Monster is my all time fave series but its not action orientated and requires patience in places. Its also about 70 episodes long.
Oh yeah, Baccano! as well, possibaly the most original anime of recent years. Perfect blend of comedy, action, gore and drama. Seriously.
