Ben Underwoodtaught is blind, both of his eyes were removed (cancer) when he was 3. Yet, he plays basketball, rides on a bicycle, and lives a quite normal life. He taught himself to use echo location to navigate around the world. With no guide-dogs, he doesn't even need hands: he uses sound. Ben makes a short click sound that bounces back from objects. Amazingly, his ears pick up the ecos to let him know where the objects are. He's the only person in the world who sees using nothing but eco location, like a sonar or a dolphin.

I've read somewhere that apparently most people subconciously echo locate using their footsteps. Some sort of test about people trying to stop as close as they can to an object without hitting and while blindfolded. Hard shoes on hard floors made more sound and people stopped closer to the object than on carpet...

Things like the first guy on this list will always astound me while also inspiring because they're indicative of the kind of power the human mind is capable of attaining. Can you imagine if we all had that kind of perception and unlocked ability? It's absolutely insane what we'd be able to accomplish.

I was under the impression that there was more than one person who could do this. That said, its still hella cool.

I'm sitting around waiting for my shark gland to evolve:
