More people need to watch this series. Just because the title sounds rather girly, it's not entirely that girly. >.>
Summary:
13-year-old ballet student Ahiru is clumsy, good-hearted and sweet... and has a big secret. The mysterious Drosselmayer morphed a young duck into a girl to give her a mission: help a Prince to get the parts of his heart back. With that in mind, she morphs into Princess Tutu, whose magical dances ease the pain and purifies the bad feelings. It's way better than it sounds. It's got an awesome soundtrack, a good plot with neat plot twists, character development, and of course, epic ballet dancing!
And of course, any Princess Tutu thread cannot be without one of the best AMVs ever made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHZqxecCukg
Go watch it now!

I just gave copies of Princess Tutu to all my nieces and my brother (ha!). It's one of my favorite shows ever, no joke. I'm waiting to hear what people think of it.

Princess Tutu is amazingly cute and the storyline is well put together. If you plan on watching alot of magical girl series this is one you have to put on your list.

Titles like Princess Tutu automatically send me into a judgmental state of mind, reminding me of all the other Shoujo Anime series with similar titles that I absolutely hated. So while I didn't outright flame anyone--including a friend of mine--when they mention liking Princess Tutu, they had my contempt.
But you know, be a picky eater and you'll be left to starve. Be too picky with the series you'll watch and you'll be bored out of your mind. Around New Years I downloaded and watched a couple episodes of Princess Tutu. I was still very, very skeptical, mind you. The whole spin off of The Swan Princess, the animation style and Fahkir's very suggestive name all rather missed their mark with me.
Not to mention the random appearances of scary talking animals.
But I kept watching. And kept watching. And kept watching until I had finished the entire first season and was well into the second, which is when it hit me: You're Obsessed. And I was. Somewhere along the line I'd filled up my DeviantART favorites with fanart, my YouTube account with videos and my brain with all of the above. And, I must say the extremity of the difference between season one and two--namely the epicness that the end of season two had and one didn't--delt the final blow.
I am hooked, much to my formerly mentioned friend's delight. And I suspect I always will be. Damn you, Princess Tutu.

Keep watching. The first season (first 13 episodes or so) may seem a bit repetitive, but there's a shift in theme and tone by the second season, which becomes the main focus of the story. Even towards the end of the first season, it gets really good.

One of my all time favourite anime. Tutu is so sweet and kawaii! One can't help but fall in love with her character. And the music is very good too. Tutu's ballet is beautiful and I like how Ahiru adds to the humour with her clumsiness.
I just wish Tutu didn't have to turn back into a duck at the end.

Hmm.. well over all it was a good series but, I have to say I didn't like the ending. The thing people don't know is it is actually a pretty dark anime. It's not all fun and games. It's worth the watch.

I will admit that I am one of those who didn't watch the anime because I thought it would be something stupid. I thought that it was going to be something goofy and cheesy, but it turned out to be so good.
Hope that more people will check out the anime. The artwork is so beautiful and the story is really good.

I loved this series! It was adorable and cute and it made me such a Fakir fan! I wrote a review (http://animeprincess.kokidokom.net/2008/03/princess-tutu/) about it on my blog long ago. Self advertisement inserted in this post X) but nevertheless, I think it's a great series that does not deserved to be overlooked simply because many people don't think it seems that good at first glance.

I can understand why. When I first finished the series, I was really disappointed in the ending as well. But then after giving it some thought, it was actually a well thought out and well done ending. It stayed true to one of the themes of the series (be yourself). Sure, I was expecting a happier, Disney fairy tale sort of ending, but it still works really well. It's actually become one of my favorite anime endings.

I love how they fight ;D
like " OMG IMMA DO THE CHACHA (or whatever) TO KILL & YOU GET THE REMAINING PIECES OF MAH PRINCEY'S HEART!!! " and the other girl would go like " NOT IF I BEAT YOU WITH MAH WALTZ!!! "
love the twist in the end =]

Okay, I watched the whole series.
I didn't know I would be so hooked up with it.
The ending (Chapter of the Chick) was all happiness, but I didn't like it.
How I wish she didn't go back into being a duck, and be Fakir's lover. ^^
That would be a more happy ending. ^_^

I saw a couple episodes of the series and it surprised me. At first I thought I was going to hate it because of the girly name, but I really need to finish it sometime. =)

Princess Tutu was extraordinary, and the ending did kinda stink with Ahiru turning back into a duck and all. I thought that there should be a second series, in which Fakir wrote a story in whioch Ahiru turned back into a girl, demo, it didn't happen. Then I realized that the ending WAS good, because even though she was a duck, she was with Fakir. I know that they can't be all coupley, but at least they were together instead of Ahiru dead or gone forever.

I saw all the episodes a very long time ago.
I loved it very much.
I've yet to read the manga.
I believe I would like the manga better.

I loved the series, it was cute and one of the
Few shoujo series that are well written.
The ending was sad though, made me cry.
But a good ending nonetheless.
