Starting February 1st, members will only have one week every 2 months to change their usernames. The Username Request Thread (http://www.anime-forums.com/showthread.php?t=94207) will be closed for 2 months on Feb 1st and opened for one week starting on April 1st. Then it will be closed again for two months and reopened for one week, etc. No usernames will be changed anytime the thread is closed.

Only members with 500 posts or more may request a new username. Otherwise, they must be a member for more than 4 months.

No innapropriate names will be allowed.

I was starting to notice how often folks were asking for name changes...I'm sure its annoying to Admins since they can't always be online to do the name change right away.

So I suppose this makes it easier for the Admins to do the name changes at once, and also keeps us "regular" users from getting confused at where some folks go because they got a name change.

I do agree with this, Wildstar. Thank you for setting the rules for both user name changes and how often people are allowed to change them. If anyone hasn't noticed, I have had my current user name for longer than usual, which I plan on keeping for at least 4 months. Write that down as evidence.

This will help keep track of who's who, too. The constant changing of names confuses me.

The real pisser -- a bunch of these people expected others to keep track of their name changes -- as if we care! Personally, it's not my fault for not noticing whose name changes to what. Names are names for a reason - it's for identification. If people can't identify a person after a name change, it's their fault.

What's the point in having a name at all if you're just going to discard it for something else in the near future?

I know a lot of users get bored with their usernames. I know I shortened mine, but everyone called me Yuki anyway. I'm sticking with it.

This will make it easier to keep track of you misbehaving folk too >=3

Seriously though, people should try to find a name that is unique to them and stick with it. There's nothing worse than logging on and seeing a whole load of messages from people you can't identify. I actually stopped talking to serial name changers, too much effort. xD

This is actually a pretty good idea, I change my name a lot, but at times I feel guilty and wonder if I am pissing the mods of. So this is even a very good idea, plus it will let my username have a chance to grow.

Yup. Rapid name changing = Annoying.

Sure, I alter my name daily in A4 IRC - but - I always kept the Kyuu tag - so that people immediately know who I am.

Naw the every two months system is good.
Totally disablement of name changes would be a poor choice.

Acutally Wildz, there is an automatic name change system that I think its GovTeen that uses it. But you just put in your user name and password and what your new one should be. Then it wont let you do it agian for a pre set amount of time.
And I think it eaither changes it right then automatically or puts it in a cue to send to the staff.
Eaither way its really cool.

Its a modification you can download. :)

It was always easy to know when Shian changed his name. He kept his "always" quote and always used something from Tsubasa.

Seems good to me. No way in hell I would ever change my name. I have had it since the beginning of my time in A4 around its second birthday or so.

My guess is they would've made their namechange public had they wanted it known. Although by process of elimination it isn't too hard to figure out who it is. ;p

I'd say shoot a PM to an admin, although I imagine they'll tell you to contact moskau directly, which is what I'd suggest.

I've seen something like this in other forums...
It might be a good idea if you can set it to only let people change their names every month or something like that...
[only saying this because I've been waiting like a month and a half to change mine for the first time in like... forever...]

Closing this thread. There really isn't much more to talk about since this policy is what it is. If there any changes they'll be posted in the News forum or if people make suggestions they can do so in the proper place.
