Possibly the single most romantic show of all time. True love. Drama. In fact most of the main characters leave their best friend who is in love with them in the lurch because they're in love with someone else. Though truthfully when it was done I felt kind of empty and a bit depressed. But that could just be me.
The nun who runs this school is possibly the most ineffective chaperone in human history. The amnesia in the last few episodes seemed tacked on. But overall a great series and one I'm glad i saw.

Two years ago I'd probably agree with you, but not anymore. That said, it's still a very romantic anime which involves Yuri.
Maybe I should go watch it again, I did watch it once over at night 2 years ago. Need to refresh my memory.

Hmm... I liked Strawberry Panic... Its not a favorite of mine, but the yuri concept with the schools was a new take on things. But it being the most romantic anime? I don't think so... I can think of alot more dramatic animes. For what it is though, its good and I enjoyed it. I could reccomend it too someone.

I meant it was focused more ON romance than any other anime. No real side plots that didn't involve it. Know what I mean?

Oh god, please don't get me started on Strawberry Panic.
At first it seems like it's decent, the romance relationships are okay. Yuri is my cup of tea, so I kept watching it. But honestly, starting from episode 15(or whichever episode they finally kissed) everything went ****.
The most terrible thing
I really don't get why Kaori was such a big deal. Yes, she's dead, yes, Shizuma is sad. But OMG WHAT IS SO HARD ABOUT MOVING ON?! So then the angsty emo dragged on FOREVER. And that's all there was.
And for the record Yaya > Amane.

The ending was fgood.
If you're into Yuri you could try Maze. Or Space Pirate Mito and the sequel Aoi and Mutsuki A pair of queens.
OMG WHAT IS SO HARD ABOUT MOVING ON?!
It's so hard ya insensitive jerk!!!

Despite the Yuri -- this was really one of the more passionate series I've seen. XD

What do you mean "despite the yuri"?

As in, despite the GirlXGirl factor, it's still a passionate series - Is what he meant.
I have to agree with Sl33py here, that angst of emo can't-move-on was a pretty dead facepalm drama. Wow.. my vocabulary is shocking this morning.

I happen to believe that GirlXGirl makes a series more romantic.
Though I am a straight male. That could account for that.
What do you mean "despite the yuri"?
You can replace the Etoile as a dude -- keep the story -- and you'd pretty much wind up with the same thing.

Except then the Etoile would be so much less attractive.

I like this show a lot, very passionate. Sl33py points out a few of it's issues, but I choose to overlook them. The angst was annoying, but that for me was counteracted by the romance.
My favourite character was Hikari.

Etoile being a guy? That could have made a better story; maybe. In the end, we still get a Yuri couple; AmaneXHikari.
Hikari? You made a sig for her if I remember, Clint. XD

I have to agree that the amnesia thing was forced. It's a shame, there was so much more that could have been done with that pairing.

Nah, that sig was a sig from a Yuri Hentai game, but she and Hikari looked very similar.

I also have to agree that the amnesia thing was forced. It's a shame, there was so much more that could have been done with that pairing.
All we knew about that pairing was they became the new Etoile together after getting together at the stable when she recovered her memories. Easily predictable and semi-boring stuff~

I thought Stawberry Panic was a delightful anime xD. It was definitely romantic and I adored the ending.
And I agree, there was a bit too much angst. And I honestly wanted to throw my shoe at Nagisa when she ran away from Shizuma in one episode.
But it was a good anime xD. The manga is completely different though :/

Someone please explain to me how and why the ending is good. Aside form the fact that it's a typical Happy ending.

This is due to the fact that it releases the viewers from the pent-up excitement created from anticipation in which Nagisa will end up with Shizuka. The ending is the typical barging-in-running-away-with-a person type in which they run away together and has a romantic moment on the sea of grass.
... is what most people would like about the ending. I didn't mind it as much, but I'll much rather have NagisaXTamao just for kicks.

I think it's the build up from the previous episodes that made the not-so-unusual ending kinda special xD.
But >_> <_< ... I would love Shizuma run up, open the chapel doors and declare her eternal love to me then take me away for some action in the park, but hey, that's just my fantasy. Heh Heh :D

It was not so romantic in my opinion, it seemed more slutty than anything... I didn't finish it. It moved too slow..
There are way better yuri anime out there that are plenty romantic. ^_^

I feel that this anime has romantic elements but there is to much "drama" going on. I enjoyed this series personally dont get me wrong. When I finished it though the ending was sertainly just "good". The ending could have been a lot better I think that the amnesia was alos a forced part stuck in there. I recomned the manga even though it is finished at 3 books as I have heard.

It was good overall, but sometimes it seemed like the drama was a little too forced.
Also I never thought I would say this, but it was too Moe. There's a limit to everything and Strawberry Panic crossed the line. It seemed like there were only like 3 characters which had a personality, and the rest were copies without an original.

I do agree with you on that I think that the characters over all artwork was done pretty well.

Aside from two hot girls declaring their love and kissing?
There was the emotional way they both avoided the OTHER girls who liked them. The way Tomo gave up on her. The way it turned out Shizuma had no plan once she'd stolen Nagisa away. The reaction fromt he rest of the school. And the certain knowledge that whatever else happens... nagisa can always go live in the villa with Shizuma.

Yeah I didnt really like how Tomo gave up so "fast" and never really told Nagisa how she felt I think that was a part that was missing from the anime that I would have liked to see.

Outside a happy ending...there wasn't really much. Just like any other anime ending. They end up together. Nothing was special about it in my opinion. And whats this about Yuri Hentai Games? Is this Translated into english?! I think I would have more fun playing that, than watching Strawberry Panic, for sure.
Also I have to agree that Tomo could have at least confessed her feelings. I mean, she gave up before she even got started it seemed like. O well.

Yeah poor tomo I remember the ribbon part in the anime that was both a shocking scene and a sad one . I cant believe she just forgot about the ribbon or didnt make sure it was tied on tighter.

I think Tomo was pretty clear how she felt from day one.
As for Nagisa... the bit at the pool says it all, don't you think?

Does anyone else find it strange that the girl who tried to rape hikari like three times(always forget her name) was about to rape her, then hikari said "You're dispicable" and she had a freaking change of heart. As if she thought that rape was ok and then she got told it wasnt and she was just like "Oh ok, il stop now" Wtf...
on a similar note, Aname should've intimidated her more the first time she found them in the forest. All she did was tell her off, but she should've threatened her and realy scared her and stuff. That would've been way better, and satifying as hell to watch.

Hikari is just that nice.
Besides, I'm not sure if rape is considered wrong in anime... especially between two hot girls...

I dont think anyone who likes SP! would argue with you that its boring. It's about a bunch of girls who kiss(and do more, which unfortunately isn't shown :P) thats why i watch it, end of story.

It was a very emotional anime that tugged on my heart strings quite a few times. Those times being, when Yaya nearly rapes Hakari, and when Nagisa and Shizuma go to the summer home.
The Art was very well done, and I found it added to the dramatic moments very nicely.
The only problems I had, were how after about ep 15, it starts to focus more on the other girls romances, rather than Nagisa and Shizuma's.

The fact that both yaya and tamao end up loveless in the end made me really sad. Like I said, it annoys me that the people who made SP tried to pass the ending off as "happy". However, the whole story with shizumas first love didn't really touch me, idk why.
I can't deny that the ending hit me emotionaly, but it's not like I watched the show for the drama. In the end, it was just a good yuri, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, there was definitly some serious weaving around in the last half of the series. I was beginning to get a little annoyed with all the inability of everyone to just make up their mind.
But at least it wasn't like some shows, that spend the entire series building up to something that never happens, and then you feel like you've wasted all that money, and 600+ mins of your life.
It was bittersweet at the very least. I thought it could have ended a bit better, and was really wishing that I had more than the first volume of the Light Novel.
