Space Pirate Mito came out a ew years ago which explains why the sequel series Aoi and Mutsuki was only released with Japanese dialogue. Still the original starred Lisa Ortiz so you know it's good.
Basically this every day boy names Aoi is living his life despite missing his absentee mom. What he doesn't know is that his mom instead of being a super model is actually a munchkin-like alien in a body suit that has a reputation for being the worst pirate in space and is ALSO the rightful ruler of the galaxy. Meanwhile two police officers are trying to arrest him and use him for bait so the evil overlord can capture his mom and the female officer of course falls in love with him. This leads to many problems including the fact that apparently WATER is the deadliest poison in the universe. Swing away Aoi... swing away.
In the sequel series Aoi has had some problems due to 2 things. 1. He is now the official ruler of the universe. 2. Due to his mother's alien biology... he's now a girl. Not that his girlfriend minds... though it's freaking the heck out of his old friends who think she's totally hot...
Meanwhile the original quen of the universe and it's insane creator, has been released from her prison and wants to get her old job back.
