I'm curious as to how much tea people here drink, and what kinds.

Do you drink tea?
If so, how often?
What kinds? (Traditional, Earl Grey, Cammomile, Green, etc)
What type is your favourite?
And finally, do you use teabags, or tealeaves directly?

Basically, let's discuss tea.

Note that this is not, and will never be, a tea versus coffee thread (http://anime-forums.com/showthread.php?t=80499).

I started drinking tea a couple of years ago. Before that I only ever made tea to dunk biscuits in.

I like loose green tea because I'm a whore. Also, Earl grey is the sh1t.

English breakfest is by far my fave. 2 sips will smack you upside the head in the mornings.

Typoo and Tetly are the other brands I like. PG Tips and lipton suck.

I buy a venti green tea every weekday at Starbucks. In the summer I switch to venti, unsweetened, shaken iced green tea <--- it's good.

The best tea I've had was this homemade tea from my roommate. It was some unique herbal flavour.

I've been getting some orange something or other. It's not Pekoe. But it's good. I used to actually drink English Breakfast back when I got up early enough to have tea in the morning. My perfect daughter (age 7) will indulge in tea if it has cream and sugar, but not under any other circumstances. Milk is not good enough. I just use bags, because it's hard to find loose tea around here.

I drink a lot of jasmine tea (which is a variety of green tea with jasmine flowers added). Some brand I can't read.

I use loose leaf in a coffee maker.

I've been a big fan of tea for a while. Up until recently I would drink about 1 cup a day with milk. I stopped for a little while because there were days I would drink 2 or more cups back to back and the acid would mess me up.

It's really good with with gram crackers, but I never really got into biscuits.

I have a cup of tea maybe three or four days out of the week. I switch between some generic brand green tea, Cinnamon Tea, and this Blueberry White tea from Starbucks.

Sweet, southern tea made on the stove with generic teabags.

I started drinking tea from a bottle when I was somewhere in my baby years, god knows when. Since then I drunk mostly very light, traditional morning tea, two sugars and plenty of milk. Though, in the past 6 months I've been delving into different brands of tea.

I like, Darjeeling, Earl Grey (It really is the sh1t), Assam, Ceylon, Chai (Yum), Green, Camomile (Excellent with Blossom Honey) and an assortment of fruit teas.

Yet today I tried Assam and "Lapsang Souchong" for the first time. The Assam was excellent and I've already grown a liking to it, but the Lapsang suprised me. By "Smokey touch" I didn't expect "Makes your room smell like burning wood". It doesn't taste like burning wood, but it certainly smells like it. I'm not a fan of it for that reason.

As for biscuits, I only dunk them with traditional tea with milk, otherwise I drink tea about 5-10 times a day, and since I have so many types lying around, I don't get bored.

Also, Tetley & Twinings FTW.

PS. Starbucks tea pales in comparison to home brewed tea.

Green Tea FTW!!!

Yeah, so I like green tea, jasmine, dandelion. I'm not a tea expert so a lot of other teas I like I don't know the specific name.

Tea leaves are the way to go! ;)

PS: BUBBLE TEA!!!

I drink tea all the time. I like it black, green, purple, magenta, you name it.

English Breakfast tea is a staple for me, but I really like experiment with teas like Cinnamon Cherry, Orange Spice, or Blackberry. Pretty much anything from The Republic of Tea is good with me. The Minister of Leaves is a G.

My favorites are Ginger Peach and Mango. I also like Tuscan Lemon, but that's not from TROT, I think it's Twinnings?

Ice tea is also pretty awesome.

This weekend I have a tea party, followed by a "Get absolutely hammered" party, planned. I'm suprised that 15+ students would ever agree to such a poncy event.

Tea, followed by a bottle of wine. It's going to be a good sunday.

Are tea parties common? I just ask because it would naturally make sense that people would get together to drink tea. In the states everyone usually gets together to drink coffee, but I don't hear of people getting together to drink tea even if people get together "to drink coffee", but end up getting chai teas or non-coffee drinks.

I drink tea almost every morning. I usually like black tea and chai teas. However, I'm a cheapo and just get the bagged kind from the stores. Too lazy to get the actual leaves.

The "being cool" thing to do amongst my friends, is to all drink tea while we watch anime. Or doing anything related to any oriental culture. Someone WILL mention the fact that tea needs to be made. Not sure how it all got started though..

Same here. They say I would throw a fit if my bottle ever ran dry.

Now, however, I despise all things tea. From the same beginnings, our paths turned in very different directions.

I've been trying to get into tea lately so I can drink it as an alternative to the sugary drinks I'm off of now.

But all tea I've tried either has too much sugar or tastes like water. I'm not sure what I should do. :x

My roommate's sis actually made the tea. I've never asked how. It's basically a lot of dried out herbs and some other weird ****. I don't know how she makes it so potent. Tastes delicious.

Starbuck's tea is pretty bad, but it's all there is on my campus except for Tim Horton's which is even worse.

I don't think tea parties are common, but it's very common to sit down and "have a cuppa" with your friends here. For instance, when working we literally take tea breaks between assignments. (University students). Not coffee, but tea. The idea that British people drink a lot of tea is a really accurate stereotype. I've only met like, one person here ever that has never had tea before, and very few people don't drink it.

I've just wanted to have a tea party because I've yet to experience one. I had a "Cheese and Wine Party" recently, and that was entertaining.

It makes me wonder if that's the reason why so many people these days claim to like green tea (The anime thing).

Green tea tastes good and I would guess more people drink it for its health benefits than because of anime.

OK. I see. So it's more like tea with friends rather than something elaborate.

ulong tea is really good too. The unsweetened variety. I used to buy it 6 bottles at a time and just drink them down all day. After a while you forget they're unsweetened and they actually become quite tasty.

You see, I like walking out in the brisk air feeling drowsy.

I almost never drink hot beverages. I just don't feel like waiting to drink. I certainly don't want to be wide-eyed.
Americans love it cold, always. Oddly in France, I was always served room temperature drinks made by mixing sugary syrups with your water. Odd.

When I must, I drink Ginseng tea, a Korean brand named Il Hwa. Theraflu for the sniffles.

I have noticed the lack of room temperature beverages. Probably it has to be either hot or cold in the US.

There are a few things that I never would have tried had I not gone abroad, like cold milk tea in a bottle. That's some good stuff.

I enjoy tea and I think it's very replenishing.

Usually I drink "green tea" or "Madura". But, I'm always up for different types of tea. Some I also enjoy are "Licorice tea" and "camomile". It gives me a hit and tastes lovely.

I have this very rare tea from china. It is the only one of its kind cuz its picked by monkey's. There is only one remote village left in china that still practices picking tea by using monkey's. At least of those who sell it.

Its a VERY good loose leaf tea.

Yup.

If so, how often?

On work days, roughly three of four, as I hate the crappy vending machines we have to use. If I'm at home, anywhere between five and fifteen.

What kinds? (Traditional, Earl Grey, Cammomile, Green, etc)

Generally just Scottish Breakfast tea (yes, it does taste different to English breakfast tea).

What type is your favourite?

Earl Grey or Green Tea.

And finally, do you use teabags, or tealeaves directly?

Tea bags, easiest way to do it.

I have an entire cabinet dedicated to tea, I think I own around 20 different brands.

I drink at least a cup or two a day, more if I'm sick, like right now. It's very nice on a sore throat. :)

I have a love of earl gray, but I also like pi mu tan, which is a very nice, light, white tea.

Tea bags if I'm in a hurry, but tea leaves if I have the time to wait for it to steep.

I live in kazakhstan. People here have an old tradition to drink tea. Actually we drink tea every time we have meal, so 3-4 times a day. I think tea for us is like water.
I really love tea. Hot tea, cold tea, black tea, green tea, but green most of all.
I like Japanese tea and Chinese. Since tea is very popular here, we have lots of different types, and since we border with China, Chinese tea is the most popular.

Mainly Osmanthus Green tea, Matcha, or Pu-erh, and sometimes Black tea. The cold teas I drink are usually Chrysanthemum, Barley, Oolong, and Red tea.

I absolutely hate that Earl Grey/Lemon/Rose tea bullshit. I can't stand the taste of those things.

Since I was given a kettle a few weeks ago, I now drink about 2-5 pots of tea a day.

My favorites are rooibos (I can make iced tea out of this, too), jasmine green tea, and peppermint. I like leaves better than bags, but usually I end up buying the tea bags.

I'm a coffee person really. But I have tea ocassionally. I like the iced variety.
-Peach and mint
-Honey and Lemon

In the hot variety...I like ginger tea (great for headaches!) and masala chai (damn spicy). I feel Indians sweeten their tea too much. Oh yeah and I use leaves and not tea bags.
I drink green tea too but not very often. I think my dad uses extra strong really bitter tea leaves so....meh. He drinks green tea daily.
