While I don't believe that this is confirmed, I would have to say that Sasuke's sharingan isn't fully developed, or just not to point where it's as strong as Kakashi's.

well in the manga i just got from japan..........

ahem... when kakshi takes off his headband his eye is not even fully open and you can see three, but when sasuke SPOIL- aah screw it it says it in the title... activates his sharigan for the second time (i think the second time...) his eyes are completley wide open and none of his actual eye is covered up and there are only two swirls

I think Sasuke's sharingan is just underdeveloped. That's what I infer at least.

As the Sharingan grows stronger, they gain more "swirly things".

Sasuke's were 2 / 1 in episode 16, when he fought Lee they were 2 / 2 though. In a flashback of Sasuke's, Itachi had 2 / 2. He hadn't fully developed his yet.

That's what it really is.

okay.... yeah but what does 2/1 mean like one of his eyes is 2 and the other is- meh.....
okay im way behind everyone!!!!!!!!! and dont sue me for this moderators
but id on know of places for translations or downloads (not asking! just complaining!)... so i have raw japanese text, and all i can do is read hiaragana, katana and such a miniscule amount of kanji, that the majoridy of the time all i can out is... "oh that has the water radical in it..."

okay well any way thank you for the answer, i was kinda stuck... greatly appreciated...

theres no way you can actually know the real reason. it hasn't been explained. and this topic is really old and essentailly solved. not to mention im caught up in naruto now, so yah. and yeah im pretty sure it has to do with developement.

All you do know from the series so far that kakashi wanted it, since kakashi's did have 3 swirls it might have been from one of the older generation Uchicha? (that how you spell it o.o?)

*spoilers i think o.o*

Oro wanted it too but he knows the limits of having the sharingan without Uchicha blood ie Kakashi will never live up to Itachi otherwise he wouldve killed saskue right their and take it :X.

I agree with the underdeveloped theory. Maybe you recieve one every 10 years o.O? Kinda would fit with saskue and itachi not having 3 swirls since they are both under 20 and kakashi is like..20+ for sure.. but then again the eye he got probably belonged to someone who was way older.

Also, it may not have to do with age, but instead with power/amount of chakra you can control.

By the way, SPOILERS they have explained that it was surgically put in, but not by who. I'm guessing they won't cover it for a while though, as he hasnt been in the manga for ages.

Finally, someone was asking for naruto manga or anime (i think). I hope the mod's dont get mad at me for this, but www.narutofan.com is a great place for naruto stuff.

i know, im a member there. but canyou tell me the exact chapter that they say that? cause ive read all of naruto thats out, and i havent heard that. if you go tthat from a web page it ma not be correct. i dont thinl the sharigan has to do with age.... but with development. plus *spoiler*

orochimaru wants sasuke and his sharigan because he is still young, so orochimaru could posess the body for a long time, and because he wants to learnall justsus, the sharigan would greatly boost the speed and reduce the effort to achieve this goal. he also wants sasue because the only other holder with the full power of uchiha blood is itachi, who is more powerful than him.

Just curious, what issue was it explained in?

I still agree that it was surgically inserted, I'm just inquisitive.
