Ian's Musings

  1. 【東方アレンジ】ティアオイエツォン (withered leaf) - remix

So in celebration of my latest av/sig combo, let's have a Chen track!

Pretty much the perfect remix for Chen's theme, Withered Leaf. Uplifting and kinda jazzy with that swing beat. I generally avoid the rock and metal touhou remixes, most of them just kinda blend together or have really unappealing vocalists. I actually enjoy the guitar work in this track though, it's just laid back enough that it blends in with synth and bass real well; doesn't feel like ...
  2. Masayoshi Minoshima (nomico) - Bad Apple!!

Been a while since I updated but I've been busy. Back with a great vocal track sung by nomico and arranged by Minoshima of Alstroemeria Records. The original version is from the fourth touhou title, Lotus Land Story back on PC-98, and was the second danmaku title. This video includes a variety of girls from across numerous touhou titles, and the lyrics and song fit quite well for the featured youkai and humans alike.

    It's a pretty huge departure ...
  3. CROW'SCLAW - CIRNO BLUES (Beloved Tomboyish Daughter)

Cirno would definitely have the blues if she lived around here. Letty seems to have started her nap pretty early this year as it almost hit 80 degrees today! Pretty basic 12-bar blues progression going on here, but it works so well. I'm usually not a fan of CROW'SCLAW arranges since they tend to focus primarily on metal versions, but I just can't say no to the blues. I actually think that aside from the obvious pun, it's a pretty good fit for her character. It's a quick, ...
  4. UI-70 - Crystallized Orient

In tribute to our current seasonal youkai, Letty Whiterock, I decided to post a version of Crystallized Silver. We had quite the warm snap today, with it reaching into the 70s. I'm sure Letty wasn't too happy about it. Despite being a stage 1 boss, I'm quite fond of her theme as it's from my first touhou game and one of my favorite touhou games to this day, Perfect Cherry Blossom.

The usual blaring ZUN trumpets and organ have been replaced with an electric ...
  5. Kitsune's Workshop - 百鬼気質 (Broken Moon)

    By Request :P

A great arrangement of a song I'm not particularly fond of. Originally a pre-battle theme that was simply background music for the dialogue in Touhou 7.5, Immaterial and Missing Power, it's not a very strong theme or much of a tension build up to the final fight. The song really just felt like menu music or something I guess. It was definitely improved in Scarlet Weather Rhapsody where it officially became Suika's theme and had quite a bit ...
