    Sounds fun.

I haven't shot a firearm since I was a kid when I'd hunt small animals. Would be interesting to give it another try.

'Us versus them' has existed ever since humans started hanging around in groups.

I agree, especially here in America, but I think to an extent it's natural that groups develop an us vs. them mentality. A lot of groups are formed for that specific reason.

In particular with religion in America and the rise of fundamentalist I think it can be attributed to the fact that America is becoming less religious, but those people won't accept it.

I agree with that in the historical sense but I think saying stuff like "crusading" is assigning a specific label that I think anyone trying to have an intellectual discussion about being honest in what we as species do should avoid. not really a discussion you want to go to.

I do agree in the sense that we are fundamentally the same in that the human condition hasn't changed much. People who lived in the dark ages and perhaps dating back even further to cavemen. We all still want basic human needs: to eat, to have shelter, to drink, to be loved and to be care for someone else. These are all things that people back then strived for and fought wars over, and like you said we still have a tendancy to dehumanize and discriminate on what we are not familiar with.

In short, I don't think peopel are different; I just think instead of castles, lands, Kings, gold, velvet costumes and gowns...we have 3 piece suits, Corporations, branding, and we still pass on our ideals and heirs just like families back then.

it changes on a superficial level I like to think.

I don't even know how to respond to this. I believe in the Way of the Leaf, so your statement does not apply to me.

Let me be the first to say: wussy.

About the bigger town thing. I completely understand, but I don't want to go anywhere else unless there is mass transit

Hm... So these should be questions for the reader? Not a bad thought, and traditionally these are questions left up to the reader to answer.. I think leaving it up the reader on the internet is creating some really stupid positions though.

And I probably should've included men's rights advocates in that list of people not bothering to explain the value of what they're saying. It's kind of mind-boggling that these questions like "why should I care" and "what value is there in what I'm reading" are taken so lightly.

i think it presents the question for the reader to answer. usually have to read over a passage several times: once to parse it, twice to understand and apply it, and thrice to criticize it.

@Pured: It's far more boring than that

@Red_Dragon: Yeah, there's definitely tiers to IT jobs I think. Being network support guy certainly was boring. SAP and business stuff is more interesting, but it's more accounting that technical stuff. I spent a ton of time migrating customer and vendor data. And inventory balances. And creating charts of accounts. and tweaking reports for users. About the only really technical thing I regularly did was install and configure SQL server.

Ah following me I see (JK)

I hate networking, good on you for moving away from that. I have always been fascinated with servers and data migration based work, they give me the most enjoyment and satisfaction. SAP is something I have never messed around with, but I'm highly interested in learning about it.

Development is an interesting thing that require a lot of patience. There is some real bucks to be had in it though, I wish you good luck.
