  • X Japan to sing for 'Buddha'

    Image from Buddha
Popular heavy metal band X Japan will sing the theme song for the upcoming film Tezuka Osamu no Buddha – Akai Sabaku Yo! Utsukushiku, or Buddha for short.

The animated film is an adaptation of the manga Buddha by ‘God of Manga’ Tezuka Osamu. This will be the first time for the manga to have its film adaptation. The animated film will come as a trilogy and the first part is to be shown this May 28, 2011. Buddha is Tezuka’s eight-book unique interpretation of the founder of Buddhism, Gautama Buddha in his search for Nirvana. The story follows Buddha's life since he was the prince of Shakya tribe up to his death.

Unlike X Japan’s heavy metal songs, the theme song titled Scarlet Love Song is a ballad one. X Japan co-founder and drummer Yoshiki commented “I have always loved animation since I was a child that is why I am really happy to participate in this.” The song will be released to the public next year but there is no confirmed date and details are yet to be revealed. Starting December 23, the movie trailer using Scarlet Love Song will be aired in theaters. However Fans can view the trailer with the theme song in the animated film’s official website.
