Bought my first silk vintage kimono today. I already own a yukata, pre-tied obi, geta, and one other belt thing from the seller, and was highly pleased with what I received. I wore my yukata to a convention in the summer time (I was too warm in it...) and most of the vendors couldn't get over the quality of everything and the price. My mom was a bit weary of the seller, although I knew what to look for. Mostly due to his Engrish and some of the prices were sky high. Luckily the one we purchased was affordable and also very pretty.
We bought everything else needed to wear it (including the underwear part, which I think will help with feeling comfortable in it). The kimono is for my graduation in June. While all the other girls are wearing puffy expensive gowns, I can wear a kimono. Because you know what? It's me. I would love a gown, but I'm afraid to buy one online(I wanted a vintage one, and most were a little small in the bust department, even though I'm small myself there). Settled for the kimono and I think that was the best option. There will be dancing, but it'll be with my boyfriend so it's bound to just be weird floundering around.
As you can tell, I'm pretty excited. After buying the kimono, and searching for a haori and some hair accessories, I feel a bit calmer about life and graduation. Lately I've been freaking out. With this and the acceptance to the university of my choice, I feel a little stronger. My boyfriend tells me I need to toughen up. hehe I just feel positive about the future now, and that's a good thing. I'm still nervous over moving out and going to school, but I know I'll be fine. :') It's going to benefit me greatly as a person and I'll be able to change for the better. Hopefully. My boyfriend is pretty happy for me, and supports me greatly in my pursuit of my dreams, sometimes even more than my own parents.
I don't know how to do my hair or makeup or what scent I should wear. I do want a little perfume, something to calm me. Most of my perfume are floral, but I'd like a floral that is more natural. It should be fine to spritz underneath the kimono, right?
