Title is lame. Shut up.
So, my boyfriend's birthday is next month and I'm hoping to prepare something he's been wanting so bad; a picnic. To him, his birthday is the anniversary of something he'd rather not remember. I'd like to make that day a bit brighter for him.
He always wraps my presents in really girly wrapping paper and then puts them in a pretty bag. His cards are always really pretty too (the man is skilled at wrapping though, like a boss). Since he works on his birthday, I need a pretty good card, maybe one I can decorate, since I'll have to tell him about the picnic in it. :3
I'll probably get something to dress up his clothes or a toy, since he loves toys, even if he's in his 20s. But right now I'm wondering what to put in that basket. I have a bag of flour from a Korean store to make yachaejeon, but I'm thinking okonomiyaki might be more his flavour. But there aren't any Japanese stores around that sell the flour for making okonomiyaki or the sauce. :/ Yet there is ways to substitute.
Other than that, I'll have to dig out the rice cooker to make some steamed rice (he scoffs at how I cook it on the stove.. him and his Asian ways). Maybe some deep fried shrimp, beef bulgogi, and try and make a dessert from the Phils. Mm, but what type of dessert? I haven't gotten to try many of his country's desserts, like halo halo. I know how to make it, so that might be good enough. There will also be mango juice and mangoes. :B We love mangoes.
Just wondering what else to include.. he's basically a carnivore, but he needs his veggies. The poor thing is shrinking, wasting into nothing. Soon, he'll be smaller than me.
