Internet Trolls XD

I had an interesting discussion the other day with a couple of friends about internet trolls. It all started over a youtube video that was posted by a girl who was slightly overweight, but had a dang good singing voice. The amount of negative comments she was getting and the fact that the same person had come back day after day to reinforce the fact that she was an 'ugly fat cow who should do us all a favour and kill herself amoung other things. The girl in question is someone known to one of my friends and he mentioned the video the us and asked us to take a look at it, then presented screen grabs of comments made. Understandably, she was a wee bit upset about it, but didn't let it get her down too much. It resulted in her disabling comments on her video.
This got me thinking 'why the **** would anyone go to such lengths to make someone else's life a misery? Where do they get off?' Are people gone that far that they no longer go out and socialise like they did five or ten years ago. Social networking like Facebook and Youtube seem to have had a negative affect on how people interact, giving sappy individuals a larger playground to live out their lonely existance.
I know pretty much for a fact that if you asked one of these trolls if they were happy in real life, they'd say they were, that they had an awesome social life and were really popular. Are they? How popular is someone who sits on their ass all day watching comments on the internet and replying as soon as they are commented on? What kind of a sad life are they living if hurting someone else is the only way they can get their kicks? I play practical jokes on my friends for my kicks. They expect it, it's who I am and it's all in good fun.
No one likes hearing bad shyt about themselves but you need to put it into context when it's a bunch of anonymous wackos. It's not like it's been said face to face. That girl said they were jealous of her voice. LOL. She could be right.
I think it's the loser making the comments that is the more likely candidate for depression and mental illness. Trying to break someone else is not fun, it's insane. I actually fear for the next generation to be honest. Cyber-bullying is on the rise amoung teenagers, people are going out less and less, social networking like youtube, facebook and twitter is becoming more favourable than the pub on a Saturday night. Living in fantasy-land is not facing life, or reality. It can't be healthy. If one finds themselves sitting around trolling the internet for a few hours a day, they really have a problem. Your life is not great. You're not popular. You need to get your ass out into the real world and meet some real 3D friends.
Personally, I am immune to online trolls. Their low self-esteem is something to be smiled at nowadays, kinda like building up a tolerance to a disease. I am slightly fascinated by them though and what makes them tick. If only for reasons of humour. 'Inside the ****ed up mind of an internet troll' could make for the title of a study. XD Yes, I have a very weird sense of humour.
The other type of trolling to make people laugh is completely harmless. I'm guilty of it, but it involves making a joke, or telling some desperate gamer guy that I'm a 400lb'er with some nice moobs as my best assets. You don't need to hurt people to get a few giggles.
