    They're Pedos?

    No, I think they want to check out this site before they become part of the community. At least that's what I read from some of the new members at the intro forum. I didn't do that when I joined, so what I saw was what I got. There is also spam artists to consider as well.

    I have A few theories about who those guests are...all they do is make our active user count look much more than there is in reality.

    On the contrary have you considered that maybe people prefer to view the site not logged in?

    Not that it would account for all the lurkers, but just a thought.

    Most of the lurkers are types of bots.

    I think that Lurkers are afraid to be apart of the community so they would rather watch your every move.

    I think Struggler has the most infallible choice. Spambots. spambots everywhere

    Not just those types of bots, but things like Googlebot, and other web crawlers.

    for instance if in one section of forum it says that there are currently 10 users browsing this forums (3 members and 7 guests). These guests, are they members who visited the section some while ago or they are perhaps bots?
