An online "friend" more like acquaintance contacted me today after like a year. He used to play an MMO with me a couple of years ago.

Hilarity ensued.

I'm paraphrasing because I don't want to post up the full convo. He doesn't hang out on anime forums or know my "Shannon" username, so I can put this here.

Him: "Hi, how are you?"
Me: "I'm good thanks, long time no hear. How's yourself?"
Him: "Doing great... I'm doing x,y and z"
Me: "That's great to hear, glad things have been working out for you."
Him: "Love your profile pic. You look hot"
Me: "Yeah, um... thanks"
Him: "So yeah, I met someone and she's amazing."
Me: "OMG that's great. I'm delighted for you, especially after everything."
Him: "TY... yeah that's the thing..."
Me: :"Huh?"
Him: "Well I met her online."
Me: "Well, it's the 21st century. Does it matter how you met so long as you get along? Right? lol"
him: "Well, yeah, um, she's an Irish girl and I was wondering... well I was reading up and I found this http://www.irishcentral.com/roots/Da...85.html?page=1 I was wondering how true this is because I am meeting her next month.
Me" Oh you haven't met yet? Okay... *reads and nearly pisses myself laughing* "Well, hmmm might be right on the compliment thing. I'm a bit like that. I don't know where to look if a guy goes over the top with it. I get really embarrassed and dunno what to say XD. We're not all like that though. lol. As for drinking, it all depends. Just be yourself and don't talk to much about cars, politics or religion. You'll be fine. We're not a completely different species XD. You probably already know the terms of endearment you can get away with. That article is quite silly but some of the advice is good. XD."
Him:"Well, we're not exactly dating. She's a friend and she said she'll meet me and show me around on one of the days I am there, but I'm hoping she'll warm up to my charms while I'm there bla bla bla."
(Goes on about how much he loves her and hopes she'll feel the same)
Me: "Ohhhh... what? You made it sound like you've been dating. Okay word of advice. Don't bloody well act all loved up when you get there. You'll freak her out. If you're meeting as friends, behave as friends and see what happens."
Him: "Maybe you're right. Thanks anyways. Maybe you wouldn't mind meeting up at some point?"
Me: "Um... we'll see. ttyl, have to get some work done. Good luck."

WHAT THE ****. Made my day, this did. Seems kinda strange to me that he's meeting this girl and then asking to meet me too.... after a year of not talking to me. Hell no I'm not meeting him. Not thinking he's after me or anything, but I can't help thinking that this guy is no different than the one that wanted to get with me on his way to Siberia by stopping off in Ireland. That one said "I hope I'm not a hopeless romantic" and got mad when I said that I didn't want to meet him. Oh dear...

If the girl exists, I hope she has common sense and brings a friend along while she shows him around. XD.

I couldn't make these people up if I tried. >.>

    I don't think he wanted the D from you shannon, he probably just wanted to meet since you used to be online friends.
    I know if I go to croatia, near my clanmates I would meet up with them.
    And no we would not gaybang.

    We weren't friends exactly Pured. The guy was in one of our guilds and we had a pretty large Skype group. He went through a divorce a few years ago and was a bit of a depressive, so I was genuinely happy to hear he moved on. If he really is meeting this Irish girl, I can only guess he was looking to me as a "plan B." The article and all that was a bit weird. LOL. I found it hilarious, but I am a LOT smarter than that XD.


    And You have no ****ing idea then, because I have had 5 direct encounters with online guys who were never friends exactly, but thought declaring their undying feelings for me would get them places.

    All people I have never met and NEVER flirted with, but either a) asked me to marry them or b) were getting on a plane to come here or c) told me I belong to them. XD.

    In case anyone thinks I'm accusing any guy who got a bit flirty. No, the above 5 were unhinged psycho nuts that I was very unlucky to meet over the past several years. XD. Today's one, I am not so sure about... but hey at least I'm not his target.

    This guy sounds like a no-hoper to me. On the chance that this girl exists and he wasn't just casing you, That relationship (if you could really call it that) wil most likely crash and burn.

    Dust kinda half confirms my suspicions. Considering the guy was never more than an acquaintance (and someone I listened to a couple of times when he was going through bad ****) to begin with, I just removed him from my Skype list already. I don't need that bull****. He probably needs to get help and it's not my responsibility to act as a shrink. I didn't post the full extent of the convo because you never know who's who online and it would make it identifiable. XD.

    I went through enough of my own crap in the last year with everything that happened IRL and I am not taking on someone else's problems, just when I started being happy again.

    perhaps he is meeting with a "friend" or maybe he wants to know what you like/dislike to talk about Shannon. Though all that was pretty vague, it might be accurate when you said that he sees you as "plan B". Good thing that you ran away from him. He sounds like a lost soul.
