This is the Internet? All of it?

I was exploring the internet one day (Big mistake, I know) and found myself getting annoyed with people.

Reading forums, or YouTube comments, or random articles, FaceBook, etc, I notice a trend, and it annoys me.

For one I absolutely hate the "lolz, this is the internet" excuse. Like it is an excuse to disregard all mannerisms or morality. Just because people browse the internet does not give you the right to be a complete and utter a** to everyone. And when those people complain or respond, bring on the internet does not mean that those complaints don't mean anything. Sure these people could be considered trolls, but when people use this excuse in serious discussions, say if someone barges into a serious discussion being a complete a**, and then says they can and will because the internet says they should is just stupid.

It doesn't help when these stupid people think that because of the different recreational websites exist, such as FaceBook, Reddit, YouTube, twitter, what have you, that nothing serious takes place. People forget that more than half of the internet, or at least a lot more than people think are news, sciences, art, literature, and business. Hundreds of sites are educational, thought provoking, creative, industrial, productive, and interesting. The internet does not revolve around 4chan.

Also, the internet does not revolve around a single opinion either. When someone states their opinion on something, it annoys me when someone flat out says his opinion is wrong. These usually also include an insult of the commenter's life, love-life, intelligence, social life, and hygiene, and then stats his own opinion as fact that everyone shall listen to, and if you are not, then you are just as pathetic as the person he is responding to.
It always seems to me that people fail to realize that if someone likes something you don't that it does not affect you.

What's worse is when these people actively seek out what they don't like and try and convert people otherwise. Such as when a subject turns to religion (which I will not expand upon). Or on Youtube, when LPers comment on other LP channels (i.e. Call of Duty fans insulting Nintendo LPers).

Even worse then that, when someone actually talks to these people to inquire why they are insulting the channel or person, respectfully and un unaggressive, the person responds back as though he was a king who's authority was threatened. Sometimes, you get these really long arguments which all say "Mine is right and yours is wrong because I say so."

Why can't people just let others have their own opinions. Some might agree, some might not. Not everyone is the same.

The internet is not a kingdom you rule, but many people see it like that, it is causes many problems, and it ruins it for many people.

Troll or not, it's pathetic.

What also annoys me is when people make jokes about serious issues. The occasional racist joke or sexist joke can be funny when used in the right context. Or "that's what she said". Though I don't think these jokes are appropriate, but they don't do much harm. It's when someone jokes about murder, or rape, to a degree where it is not funny.

"Why do girls complain about rape? I mean Yolo right?"
"Nice work genius, now I know where you live. I am going to go to your house and murder you in your sleep. I only live an hour away from there."
"I'd f*** your daughter, she looks hot." (The girl was 10)

These are actual comments I have found on the internet. And some of you might think they are funny, but they are not. Whenever you crack a joke like that someone somewhere is being raped or murdered. It's just not right.

Sure there are a lot of other issues we make fun of, but when we make fun of ones we have the most control over theoretically, it's depressing.

Now this might appear be a rant against trolls, but I don't think this applies only to trolls. We are human beings, why can't we act like one?

It's unfortunate, but the internet is a channel open to everyone and we have no choice but to put up with them. The insane, the ghetto kids that I'd otherwise never interact with, and they 12 year old kids that pretend that they're 20 in order for adults to take their retarded opinions seriously (and they do).

What gets to me more than any of that nowadays is "trial by media." A news story comes out with sketchy details and suddenly everyone and their granny is jury, judge and executioner. I am convinced that news websites shouldn't even have a comment section. Especially yahoo, omg.

Well you see, The internet is a sort of special place and it has its curse at the same time.

Those things that people write and post and share with one another really is the things they keep inside of them all the time. It is the lure of the internet that where, well.

You see, unlike a book. Where the publisher knows who your name is and your face and name can be tracked by anyone who disagrees with anything you wrote, or saying it outloud in public is where people can see your face.

Its the simple fact that we cannot see you, touch you, Track you (unless the FBI or RIAA is involved) and no one has the slightest clue what part of the earth you are posting from. Are you from a tiny island far to the south near Antarctica? An American?

It is that in which it tears down every single last mental barrier and inhibition a person has to allow them to let out their deepest parts of their subconscious to their conscious mind and through their finger tips.

Some people may be a lot like me.

I agree with many of you when I write stupid crap or whatever.
You know all those posts I do from time to time where I write something incredibly stupid and inaccurate? I have no to little recollection of writing them in many cases and I literally black out and after I am done typing. I wake up and my thing is posted and I move on not knowing what i hath done!

Its those mental barriers that tell you to stop and thing about it first before doing it. When those are gone. Words like the ones you hate so much come out and even more so even more incrediblly stupid crap is written.

Like when the boston bombings happened and all those young girls on the internet like youtube and facebook kept posting racist and pro bombings in their stuff that caused many of them to recieve death threats in the mail.

With the internet. Stuff like that happens. We ignore it. don't take it personally and move on.

Of course not all the internet is social but remember. For the places that are. Things like that happen.

Randoms when you find a way to divide the internet so stupid people have their place and less stupid people have their space, and a way to keep them there.
I'm sure that automatically makes you a candidate for the nobel peace prize.
