I went to work this morning. I work in advertising/communications. My job revolves around writing, communicating, and meetings as necessary. Around 10 AM my boss came in because a new client (accompanied by her lawyer) wanted to speak with me specifically.

Apparently, I wrote a promo spiel that was used by a phone representative or whatever and this new client decided to use our financial institution to work out some kinks in her divorce. Actually the woman also wanted to work with us because she heard from someone I know that I work at the bank-ish place and could possibly get her a good deal. I don't think my boss liked that part. But.... the client divorced less than a week.... was granted a **** ton of money. She wants to consolidate, move back to her native country, start over, put her kids through school, and maybe open up a restaurant.

After two hours in a meeting with a financial advisor, some kinda banker, and her lawyer, she left with:
- a check worth six figures
- a contract guaranteeing her two more lump sums of cash in the 6 figure range
- a hefty CD account for each of her children
- my admiration

Now yeah I'm bound by confidentiality and **** and stuff so... the gist is she was married to the same man 35+ years. He cheated. She left. After looking at the checks and seeing some of these deals drafted... I was like "holy ****." And then the lawyer told me her client was walking away with less than half the husband's assets.

Anyways this was probably the most awesome day I've ever had at this place. It's also likely never gonna happen again.

Can't understand why people would want to cheat on a 35 year marriage, but oh well...

Kinda glad she got something and a bit for the kids. Seen a few people that walked away with nothing left to their name. Great example was a guy I knew who went off to work one day and came home to find that his ex took everything in the house. Literally he just had the clothes on the back and the cash in his wallet.
