With todays world tending to change quicker than normal i make sure to stay as knowledgeable as possible. I never lean to one side or the other in a topic. I make sure to hear what each side has to say. With going to college and now the military i have had the honor to speak with people from all over the world and grab their opinions on current news and so forth. I've come to see that no mattern how true or honest when it comes to things they arent 100% knowledgeable in they'll have this stubbornness when information is found about the unknown. A natural and human charistic that we all have at some point. Once you can notice and address that, you will be able to understand a lot more in life and how it works

But I like the way you put it, Adam. That war is nessisary, but terrible at the same time. I hate it, but sometimes we need it. If I had been born in the 60's, I probably would have been a hippy, protesting the war (I have the really long hair already...).

(I'm not making light of war by my last comment, I swear.)

Back in the 60's our country's sons, and fathers were fighting because they were told to. When they got back to the states, all these hippies, and war protesters would spit on soldiers coming home from the worst thing to ever happen to them. They got no respect for risking their lives. They had no choice. They did what they were told. They were so scarred from it. Yet people hated the soldiers for fighting a war that they had no choice to or not to fight. People didn't think to blame politicians. No, they'd rather take their frustration out on the people who got the worst of it. My grand-uncle fought in Vietnam, when he got back my family used to have to wake him up with a broom, because his wife tried to shake him awake, and he woke up screaming, and punched her across the room. You have your right to protest. If you were a protester back then, then I would hope you wouldn't be like the rest of the hippies, and protesters who spat on the soldiers once they got home after losing their closest friends. They deserved better. They deserved care, understanding, and our country's love, and support. They got nothing for it. Nothing for the blood, sweat and tears that they shed.

My grandfather served in the Korean war. All he could tell me was that he did intel and a couple of funny stories here and there. I do remember asking him if he had lost anyone from the war. He was lucky enough to lose friends by old age and disease only. He was hearing about what was happening to troops coming back from Vietnam and expected to get the same but didnt. The major protesting was done when he got back and ended up doing his job back in the states. He says he was very lucky on how his experience with war went. No injuries, no deaths, no protests. Makes sense on why he is pretty cool and laid back....except for the part where he is 71 and still working because he cant keep still.lol hes pretty happy for of me going in even though its only 4 years. It'll be cool to travel around the world while doing college. And with the time im in I'll be able to have my own experiences (for the better i hope). As long as im not being a lazy bum and not doing anything with myself he'll continue to stay proud of me.

No, I wouldn't have ever done that. I respect everything they did for our country. I hate it when I see shows on TV about Vietnam, when they talk about how the government was really screwing around with the troops, giving them false information (this coming from some of the soldiers who were there and found out later how bad the info they were getting was). And the gov. was also screwing around with what and how much the civilians at home got to see through the news and newspapers, not telling them what was really going on, or twisting it in a way that made our men in uniform look like monsters, even though, like you said, it wasn't their fault.
